Alejandro Rutty (School of Music)

Alejandro Rutty is releasing, through Navona Records, a new album featuring music composed by Rutty, with performances by Pittsburg-based Beo String Quartet, and a group of prominent North Carolina artists: Fabián López, Vincent Van Gelder, Inara Zandmane, Jacqui Carrasco, Scott Rawls, Marjorie Bagley, Steve Stusek, Anthony Taylor, Kelly Burke, Adam Ricci, Guy Capuzzo, Fernando Martinez López and Alejandro Rutty. The album is titled Exhaling Space,  and a concert featuring music on the album will take place in the Organ Recital Hall at UNCG on March 23rd at 7:30pm.

John Salmon (School of Music)

John Salmon is hosting internationally acclaimed pianist Dmitry Rachmanov for a guest artist recital on March 21st at 7:30 pm in the Music Building Recital Hall.  It is free and open to the public.

Carole Ott (School of Music)

Carole Ott and her ensemble, Anima Vox, have been awarded a grant from the NALAC Fund for the Arts grant program.  The recipients “are recognized for their artistic excellence in pursuit of social justice through the arts”.

Jennifer S. Walter (School of Music)

Jennifer S. Walter’s, article , “Teacher License Revocation and Surrender in North Carolina due to Sexual Misconduct” has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Music Teacher Education.

Janet Allard (School of Theatre)

Janet Allard has been selected to participate in the SPARK music festival at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera with the musical, Pool Boy, for which she wrote the book and lyrics.

Dane Winkler (School of Art)

Dane Winkler has received a grant from the Pollack Krasner Foundation to develop an innovative mobile living/art space.  Read about this project.

Brandon Lee (School of Music)

Brandon Lee has been awarded a Grammy, as a member of the Christian McBride Big Band, winning in the Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album category for “Bringin’ It”.

Rachel Briley (School of Theatre)

Rachel Briley and the North Carolina Theatre for Young People are touring Stuart Little through April.
