Theatre for Young People

UNCG’s North Carolina Theatre for Young People (NCTYP) exists to celebrate the art of live theatre for young audiences, to enrich the lives of young people and their families, and to connect the university with the community.  NCTYP realizes this vision through producing plays; facilitating creative partnerships; and educating Theatre for Youth graduate students to apply knowledge in practice in area schools and community organizations.  NCTYP strives to embrace all community members in its offerings.

Since 1962, NCTYP has performed live theatre for more than two million children in Greensboro, across the state, and throughout the region. We offer a main stage production each fall in the 475-seat Taylor Theatre located on UNCG’s campus as well as a touring production each spring presented in educational and public venues. NCTYP furthers the aesthetic experience by conducting on site pre and post show workshops with educators, caregivers, and young people.
