UNDERGRADUATE ADVISING

The College of Visual & Performing Arts (CVPA) is dedicated to providing support and access during a student’s career at UNCG.  CVPA Advising & Student Success focuses on creating a seamless transition from freshman year to graduation.  The CVPA Advising Team and CVPA Faculty Advisors work closely together to guide each student as they navigate their academic, personal, and professional goals.  Academic advising plays a critical role in every student’s success story.

New/First Year

Your advising begins before you step foot on campus.  First year in the CVPA are pre-registered for courses before they attend SOAR (summer orientation).  During SOAR, you will meet the CVPA Advising Team and will be assigned your freshman-year advisor who is assigned to you depending on major choice.  During SOAR, you will be able to make adjustments to your schedule.

You are assigned to the CVPA Advising Team who specialize in freshman transition, teach students how to navigate policies, procedures and tools, and can make referrals to other campus resources.

Upperclassmen

Once a student reaches 30 credit hours, they are reassigned to their faculty advisor within their major.  College of Visual & Performing Arts faculty advisors work within the discipline and can serve as mentors for students planning to go into fields within the arts.

Students can look up their assigned advisor within their UNCGenie account under the Student tab, Registration, and Look up advisor.
