Audiences and Tickets

Tickets are required to attend any concert or recital in person. You must pre-register for a ticket at the link provided (eTix) prior to the event. For purposes of contract tracing, patrons must sit in their assigned seat.

Face Coverings

Face coverings that cover the nose and mouth must be worn by all patrons while inside the performance hall.

Dr. Abigail Pack, Professor of Horn at UNCG, native of Roanoke, Virginia, received her training from East Carolina University (BMA), University of Iowa (MM), and university of Wisconsin-Madison (DMA) where she was a Bolz Teaching Fellow. Before assuming her current position at UNCG she was Horn Faculty at James Madison University from 2001 to 2008. She has also been on faculty at Knox College in Galesburg, IL; Western State College in Gunnison, CO; and taught in the Gunnison Watershed School District. An avid symphony player, Dr. Pack has held positions with the Barton Symphony Orchestra, Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra, Des Moines Symphony Orchestra, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, and currently performs with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival Orchestra, the Southwest Chamber Orchestra, and the Opera Roanoke Orchestra. Other venues have included performances with the Iowa Brass Quintet, Western Slope Brass Band, and Massanutten Brass Band. Recent performance and presentation highlights include the National Flute Association (Washington D.C. with the Montpelier Winds), the International Horn Symposium (University of Cape Town, South Africa), the International Midwest Band and Orchestra Conference (Chicago), and the Kennedy Center of The Performing Arts (Washington).

Kevin Stees, now in his 31st year as Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at James Madison University, leads an active career as a soloist, chamber musician, conductor and music educator. He has studied with tuba artists Daniel Perantoni (Indiana University), Charles Daellenbach (Canadian Brass) and Jack Tilbury (U.S. Army Brass Quintet, ret.) and holds music degrees from University of Illinois and Arizona State University. He has been a finalist in several solo competitions and was a prize winner in the Second International Brass Congress Tuba Solo Competition.

Stees has presented solo and chamber music performances at numerous universities, conferences, music festivals and workshops, including the U.S. Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Conference, Southeast Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference, International Tuba-Euphonium Conference and the Keystone Brass Institute. He has performed with a number of orchestras including the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, Phoenix Symphony, Canadian Chamber Orchestra and the Calgary Philharmonic, and was a member of the Southwest Brass Quintet and the Skyline Brass.

Stees currently performs with the Madison Brass (quintet-in-residence at James Madison University) and the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival Orchestra. In addition to performances on tuba, he is very active as the conductor of the internationally recognized James Madison University Brass Band, having led the ensemble in performances at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. and the Brucknerhaus Concert Hall in Linz, Austria, as well as music venues throughout England, Wales and Austria. Stees is also the conductor of the award winning Massanutten Brass Band. Additionally, he is on the Board of Directors of the North American Brass Band Association and a member of the International Tuba Euphonium Association.
