Billy Hawkins Exhibition

Billy Hawkins, Artistic Merit Award Winner, will be having an exhibition of his work at the Interpolations Studio – May 1st at #363 Gateway Center (corner of Lee and Elm) Opening Exhibit: Friday, May 1st 6pm – 9pm. Exhibition through May 11th. The show’s opening will include experimental art in the form of paintings and drawings, video and Free Style Dance Cypher from 6-9pm. There are plans for local food trucks in the parking lot and several of the buildings resident artists will have open studios as well. More Information

Quinn Hunter’s animation “Shoes”

Quinn Hunter, a junior concentrating in New Media & Design, screened her animation “Shoes” at the [RE]Generative New Media Festival at Elon University on April 28. The festival was held at the Paramount Theater in downtown Burlington, and featured work by faculty and students from several North Carolina colleges and universities, along with works selected from over 100 national and international submissions.

ART Truck revealed – Friday May 8th

UNCG’s Art Truck is making its debut this Friday afternoon in front of the art building. It will be there from 3:00-5:00 pm–the interior is not yet finished, but the exterior is–its wrap designed by senior New Media and Design students working in an independent study class with Prof. Amy Purcell. Chris Thomas and Stoel Burrow’s Think Tank class will present ideas about how the truck might be used, both as a mobile gallery and as university outreach to a variety of communities throughout our region.

Passion and Creativity in Art 2015 Exhibition

The Gatwood Gallery is hosting an exhibition of the artwork of North Carolina K-12 Art Educators this summer. The exhibition, titled “Passion and Creativity in Art 2015” opens May 17th. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, May 28th, 6-7:30.
