“The Perfect Casserole” is the culmination of a semester-long inquiry into identity and portraiture by UNCG’s 2024 MFA cohort. Artists Erin Fei, Karrington Gardner, Jason Lord, Sam Machia Keshet, and Daniel Ramirez-Lamos met with a rotation of UNCG faculty for rigorous conversation, readings, and critique in an attempt to understand their respective interests in identity. This show, as a result, is their attempt to do the impossible task of pinning down identity, like trying to make the perfect casserole.
