Beginning with an interest in the digital and physical fields, 😉 is a body of work that investigates the two as modes of representation, communication, and connection. Primarily on paper, these works examine dynamics of our virtual realm through the lens of craft. References to advertising, art history, and philosophy are blended together with elements of personal narrative.

Aaron Pennington was born in Hickory, North Carolina in 1990. He received his BFA in General Fine Arts, with a concentration in Printmaking, from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2012. His work has been shown across the US and abroad, including The Boston Center for the Arts and HVW8 Gallery Berlin. Aaron currently lives and works in Greensboro, North Carolina.
