Artist Talk: Ricardo Dominguez

January 17, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Ricardo Dominguez is a co-founder of the Electronic Disturbance Theater (EDT), a group that developed virtual sit-in technologies in solidarity with the Zapatista communities in Chiapas, Mexico, in 1998. More recently, EDT 2.0 has worked on a project called the Transborder Immigrant Tool, a cell phone technology that offers immigrants both poetry and GPS-based directions to caches of water.

A long-standing partnership with UNCG’s School of Art, the Falk Visiting Artist program brings nationally and internationally recognized artists to Greensboro. While here, they work closely with students and off er a public presentation on their work. This spring’s Falk Artists work at the intersection of art and activism on the US/Mexico border. Using a range of media—from digital technologies to traditional oil painting—they draw attention to the lived experiences of immigrant populations.
