Alex WhiteheadAlex Whitehead, from Nashville, North Carolina, is a senior clarinet performance major at UNCG and a recipient of the Minerva Music Scholarship. He regularly performs with the UNCG Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and chamber groups such as Casella Sinfonietta. He is a substitute musician with the North Carolina Symphony and 2014 runner-up in the Harlan Duenow Concerto Competition. Alex has participated in the Banff Summer Music Program, the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and the Brevard Summer Music Festival, and has toured throughout Europe. Also a passionate educator, Alex runs his own private studio, teaching clarinetists from ages 10 to 18. His primary teachers include Dr. Anthony Taylor, Samuel Almaguer, and Mike Cyzewski.
