Allison McCarthy is a current MFA student and Graduate Teaching Associate in the School of Dance at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She holds her BFA in acting with a dance minor from SUNY Fredonia. Allison has recently performed nationally with The National Theatre for Children, and internationally with Missoula Children’s Theatre. In North Carolina she was a dancer and rehearsal director at Tweetsie Railroad in Boone, and she has also performed in regional theaters across the country. Her choreography has been featured on concert dance stages and in musical theatre productions up and down the East coast. She is a dance educator, yoga enthusiast, and a certified actor-combatant with the SAFD. Her research interests include violence in motion; she is currently exploring the topic of mass incarceration in the United States, and how we, as artists, might be catalysts for change and social justice.
