Elaine Gustafson

Elaine D. Gustafson is the Curator of Collections at the Weatherspoon Art Museum on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where her areas of interest include photography and modern American art. She holds a B.A. (summa cum laude) in the History of Art from Wheaton College, an M.A. in the History of Art from Brown University, and completed coursework toward her doctorate, also at Brown University. She was Director of Exhibitions & Collections and Curator of Contemporary Art at the Tampa Museum of Art for ten years prior to joining the Weatherspoon’s staff. Other past experiences include positions at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Toledo Museum of Art, the Worcester Art Museum, and the Museum of Art at Rhode Island School of Design. In addition she has authored numerous publications and served as an adjunct professor at Auburn University, Troy State University, and presently at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
