Day Camp
While most campers stay in UNCG residence halls, we welcome a small group of day campers from the Greensboro area each week—typically 35 to 45 students out of about 1,000. This section explains the procedures and times for registration, drop-off, and pick-up.
Sunday Evening Registration
Day campers register later than residential campers since the process is simpler. On the first evening of camp (Sunday), day campers should arrive at 6:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Elliott University Center and park in the Walker Parking Deck. Campers should bring their instrument, folding music stand, and completed medical form.
Drop-Off During the Week
Day campers should arrive at their classroom or rehearsal site by 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. If they plan to eat breakfast—which is included in tuition—they should arrive at the Dining Hall by 7:45 a.m. Parents are encouraged to drop campers off at the building where their morning rehearsal or class is held.
Pick-Up Schedule
From Sunday through Thursday, parents should pick up their camper at 9:15 p.m. behind the Weatherspoon Art Museum, located across Spring Garden Street from UNCG Auditorium at the corner of Tate and Spring Garden Streets. A counselor assigned to the camper’s ensemble or piano class will escort them to this area and remain until they are picked up.
On Friday, campers have free time from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. At 2:30 p.m., band and orchestra campers can be picked up behind the Weatherspoon Art Museum, while piano and chorus students should be picked up in front of the School of Music in the U-shaped drive. Campers will need to change into concert dress and return to campus by 6:00 p.m. for the evening performance.
Carpooling and Alternate Pick-Up
Carpooling is allowed, and we understand that students from the same neighborhood or school may want to ride together. If someone other than a parent will pick up your camper, please notify camp staff during Sunday registration—preferably in writing—so we can inform the escort counselors.
