Bachelors

The School of Music offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, and Bachelor of Music degrees in Performance and Music Education. Outstanding facilities, world-class faculty, and numerous ensemble experiences support artistic and academic success.

Minor in Music

A 21-semester hour Music Minor affords students majoring in other fields the opportunity to complete a carefully planned course of study integrating performance, music theory, music history and music electives with large ensemble experiences.

Masters

The School of Music offers Master of Music degrees in music composition, music education, music performance, and music theory. Our outstanding facilities, world-class faculty, and numerous ensemble experiences provide an environment for artistic and academic success.

Doctorate

Doctor of Musical Arts students are fully prepared as artist/scholars ready to join the academy. A large faculty of outstanding artists, teachers, and researchers supports a comprehensive program of study.

The Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education prepares students for careers as college-level teachers, school administrators, and other leadership positions in the profession. Students join a supportive and collegial community to engage in advanced study of music teaching, learning, and research. Each doctoral student completes core studies in music education and research and pursues electives in music-related and other disciplines, allowing for a personalized curriculum that suits students’ career aspirations while maintaining academic and scholarly excellence.

Licensure/Certificate

The School of Music offers licensure in music education, Post-Baccalaureate Certificates in ethnomusicology, historical keyboard performance, jazz studies, musicology, music composition, music education, and music theory, and a Post-Master’s Certificate in music theory pedagogy.
