Join us for an all-day event for middle and high school brass players. Students will participate in a large brass and percussion ensemble on the final concert, with rehearsals, masterclasses and clinics led by UNCG faculty throughout the day. The annual High School Keyboard Day (HSKD) gives students an opportunity to grow as musicians, to learn from faculty and fellow participants, and to explore the many opportunities as a student studying a keyboard instrument in college. This year’s event will focus on the art of improvisation in different styles including classical, jazz, contemporary, etc.
Leslie Odom Jr. is a multifaceted Tony- and Grammy-Award-Winning, three-time Emmy- and two-time Academy Award-nominated vocalist, songwriter, actor, and New York Times bestselling author. With a career that spans all performance genres, Odom has received recognition for his excellence and achievements in Broadway, television, film, and music. Most recently, Odom made his long-awaited return to Broadway starring in, and co-producing, the new Broadway production of the classic American comedy Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch by the legendary Ossie Davis, which opened in 2023 to widespread critical acclaim.
