Internationally recognized baritone Sidney Outlaw (’04 BM Vocal Performance) and world-renowned pianist Warren Jones are coming “home” to their North Carolina roots for the Homecoming” Benefit Concert in support of Greensboro Opera. The concert takes place on Friday, September 13, 2024, in Tew Recital Hall, in the UNCG Music Building.
General and Artistic Director for Greensboro Opera and Director of UNCG Opera Theatre David Holley says, “The entire community is excited to welcome Sidney and Warren back to North Carolina for this spectacular, one-of-a-kind event. It will be an extraordinary evening of world-class talent, and we can’t think of abetter way to celebrate Greensboro Opera’s 2024-2025 season.”
Warren Jones is a pianist, master teacher, chamber musician, conductor, and vocal coach. He was an honored guest at Greensboro Opera’s 2015 production of Daughter of the Regiment after delivering the keynote address at the National Opera Association Conference.
A native of Brevard, North Carolina, Sidney Outlaw received his Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro prior to earning his Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from The Juilliard School.
“We are thrilled to have Sidney return to Greensboro Opera in the title role of our upcoming October Don Giovanni. This marks his fourth appearance with us after previously appearing as Jake in Porgy and Bess, Schaunard in La bohème, and Dandini in La Cenerentola,” stated Holley.
Guests will have an opportunity to follow up the evening’s performance with a “meet the artists”wine reception. This will be a special opportunity for ticket holders to recap the highlights of the evening in an intimate setting with Sidney, Warren, and friends.
Doors open at 7:00 p.m., and the event begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased for $50, with the “Meet the Artists” Wine Reception for an additional $25.
