Master of Music in Music Education

The UNCG Music Education program is one of the premiere programs in the United States. In the Master of Music in Music Education program, world-class faculty who are master teachers and researchers will guide you as you further your education. The Music Education faculty believe that everyone should have access to music instruction. We strive to create a variety of music teaching and learning opportunities for our students. Our MM program can be completed at our main campus and online to meet the needs of practicing K-12 music teachers.

The UNCG School of Music has long been recognized as a top U.S. music institution. UNC Greensboro has been accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) since 1938. UNCG’s MM in Music Education is the oldest in the UNC system and ranked 4th Best Online Master’s in Music Education by OnlineMasters.com. Also, for the second consecutive year, UNC Greensboro School of Music ranks No. 1 in North Carolina for value by College Factual.

The Master of Music in Music Education provides students with opportunities to deepen their understanding of the historical, philosophical, psychological, and cultural aspects of music education; increase their knowledge and skill in music teaching and learning; and further develop their dispositions as reflective practitioners and mentors. Students will acquire a fundamental knowledge of research techniques and scholarly writing standards, and learn how to apply these to their work as teachers.
