Kim Shively headshot

Kim Shively (Director)
Kim Shively is an Associate Professor in the Department of Performing Arts at Elon University where she teaches acting and directs. She is also Associate Faculty with Theatrical Intimacy Education and works as an intimacy educator, choreographer and coordinator. A member of Actors’ Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA, Kim has enjoyed a professional career in Theatre, Television, Commercials, Hosting and Voice-over. Professional credits include work with Shakespeare Orange County, Laguna Playhouse, and the Asolo Rep; roles on Guiding Light, As the World Turns, The Young and the Restless, CSI:Miami; and appearances in over a dozen national commercials both on camera and as a voice-over artist.

As a director, Kim has worked for various organizations developing and producing content. Recent directing credits include the university premiere of Moment by Deirdre Kinahan, Trojan Barbie by Christine Evans, The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe, and a world premier workshop of The Inferior Sex, by Jacqueline Lawton. Shively has also presented her research and led workshops for universities and organizations all over the world, including the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE), North Carolina Women’s Theatre Festival, South Eastern Theatre Conference (SETC), Culture Change Hub in Berlin, and Germany. Her pedagogical research has been published in The Players Journal (NIU), Methods (Pace), Theatre Topics (Johns Hopkins), the book Objectives, Obstacles and Tactics in Practice: Perspectives on Activating the Actor published by Routledge, and Education in Theatrical Intimacy as Ethical Practice for University Theatre with co-author Susanne Shawyer, published by the Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism. Shively is co-author of the book Applied Meisner for the 21st Century Actor.

Kim earned a BFA in Theatre Performance at Chapman University and an MFA at the FSU/Asolo Conservatory.

Jayson Altieri, Jr (Billy Nolan) is delighted to be in his second UNC-G production of Carrie. He is a Sophomore BFA Musical Theatre major from Prattville, Alabama. He would like to thank his family allowing him to stop doing sports. It was in everyone’s best interest.

Carman Banser is a third year student pursuing a BA in Drama with a minor in Studio Art. Coming to UNCG from Climax NC, this is his fifth UNCG production, after having worked on Into the Woods, and Tartuffe on their Wardrobe team, and on Much Ado About Nothing as a Costume Artisan. Carman’s prior UNCG acting experience includes his performance as Galatea in Galatea or Whatever You Be. He is thrilled to be a part of this production!

Grace Boudah is a junior BFA musical theatre major and is so excited to be in her fourth show at UNCG. Grace’s recent credits include Charon in Percy Jackson The Musical at UNCG and Matron Mamma Morton in Chicago at Interlakes Summer Theatre. Grace would like to thank her parents and friends for their constant support and love. My name is Maya Diaz and I am a Sophomore in the BFA MT program. This is my second show at UNCG and I am so excited to be in Carrie! This is my first time doing this show and I love it, I cannot wait for everyone to experience the story.

Ella Frederickson (she/her/hers) is a senior at UNCG and is thrilled to be part of this wickedly talented cast. Some of her recent credits include Helen Burns/Jane Eyre (U/S) in Jane Eyre at Theatre Raleigh, starring Julie Benko and Matt Bogart, and Lindsay/Gibbon in Godspell alongside her amazing senior class. Outside of school and theatre, she enjoys playing guitar, writing songs, collecting trinkets, and watching scary movies. She sends love and gratitude to her Mum, Dad, Maia, JD, Katie, and Margaret.

Julia is a second-year Musical Theatre major at UNCG. She feels blessed to have worked with such a talented directing team and cast in bringing this story to life. Last year, she had the privilege of portraying Annabeth in the university’s production of “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.” She hope you enjoys the show. 1 Corinthians 16:14

Micah Hughes is currently a Sophomore in the Musical Theatre program. This will be her second role with UNCG, her first being in the ensemble of the Lightning Thief last spring. Micah would like to thank her Parents, Grandparents, and Godmother for their endless support, and the funds needed to follow her expensive dreams. Riley is a BFA Musical Theatre Major with a Dance and History minor. This is her fourth musical here at UNCG. Her previous roles include Clarisse in The Lightning Thief as well as Ensemble in both Into The Woods and Rock of Ages. Preston’s most recent credits include Chrion in UNCG’s The Lightning Thief, Bert in Mary Poppins, and the ensemble of The Wild Party! Caleb Willliams is excited to perform in his first UNCG Mainstage production! Some of Caleb’s favorite roles include Ricky Potts in Ride the Cyclone, Alfred/the March Hare/the White Rabbit in Alice by Heart, and the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz. Caleb has also been involved in several choral programs including the RJ Reynolds High School Cappella group, the UNCG Chariots, the Mars Hill choral program, and the NCMEA Honors Chorus program! Caleb has always been very passionate about performing, and he’s incredibly grateful for this opportunity!

Christian Bartney (Choreographer)
Christian Bartney is thrilled to make his mainstage debut as a choreographer for the UNCG Theatre Program’s production of “Carrie.” This is not his first foray into choreography; he has previously worked on productions such as “Willy Wonka,” “Madagascar,” “School House Rock,” and “Matilda.” In addition to theatre, Christian has also choreographed for various dance concerts, including solo, duet, and group numbers. He is excited to see his choreography come to life on the main stage and extends his heartfelt gratitude to God for His continuous blessings. Christian also wishes to thank his family, friends, and professors for their unwavering support

P.Blake Moran (Music Director) is elated to share with you his first production as an MFA student for Music Direction for Musical Theatre. Since graduating UNCG with a BA in 2018, he has worked professionally nationwide as an accompanist, actor, and music director. Select professional theaters include Theatre Aspen (Aspen, CO), Timber Lake Playhouse (Mt. Carroll, IL), and RhinoLeap Productions (Asheboro, NC). Favorite music directing credits include Ragtime, Mamma Mia!, Matilda, Waitress, Alice By Heart, and many others. Select acting credits include The Hunchback of Notre Dame (“Quasimodo”), Into the Woods (“Jack”), Cats (“Skimbleshanks”), and Children of Eden (“Japheth”). As always, he thanks his family and UNCG for their continued love and support.

Amarah Pearson (A2) is a Sophomore BFA Design and Technical Production student with a concentration in Sound Design. She is currently serving as Co-Secretary of Alpha Psi Omega here at UNCG. Her previous audio credits include Southern Baptist Sissies at North Raleigh Arts & Creative Theatre and UNCG’s production of Tartuffe. Amarah has adored working on Carrie, and hopes you enjoy the show!

Courtney Swank (Stage Manager) is a Senior BFA Design and Technical Production major with a concentration in Stage Management. Carrie: The Musical is her capstone and final production at UNCG, and she has truly enjoyed every moment of it.  Her past UNCG productions include Electrician on Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party, Assistant Stage Manager on The Passion of Antígona Pérez and Into The Woods. As well as Stage Manager on Tartuffe. She would like to thank her incredible director Kim for making this such a memorable and fantastic production process, her mentor Julie for the never-ending advice and for taking those late-night phone calls, and last but certainly not least, her family and friends for the never-ending love and support!
