School of Music faculty artist Stephanie Ycaza presents the chamber music of composer Barbara York (1949–2020). An acclaimed soloist, chamber musician, and founding member of Calypsus Brass, Ycaza is recognized for her advocacy of new music, works by women composers, and innovative programming for tuba and euphonium.
The Miles Davis Jazz Studies Program presents the 27th Annual Honors High School Jazz Band on November 21–22, 2026, featuring GRAMMY Award®-winning guitarist John Scofield. This two-day event includes big band rehearsals, clinics, and improvisation master classes, culminating in a final performance by the Honors High School Jazz Band, John Scofield, and UNCG Jazz Ensemble I, directed by Steve Haines.
The Symphonic Band welcomes faculty artist Eric Willie for a program spanning centuries and styles, from the festive energy of Gervasoni and the expressive lyricism of Bach to a new work by Sekhon. The concert closes with H. Owen Reed’s colorful “La fiesta mexicana,” a celebrated portrait of the sights, sounds, and spirit of a Mexican festival.
Featuring faculty artist Stephanie Ycaza, the Symphonic Band presents works by John Philip Sousa, Kelijah Dunton, Vincent Persichetti, Bruce Broughton, Germaine Tailleferre, and Nubia Jaime-Donjuan. Blending wind band classics, contemporary voices, and global influences, the program showcases the breadth of the concert band repertoire.
The UNCG Symphonic Band presents a diverse program featuring works by Tielman Susato, Joaquín Turina, Jennifer Jolley, and Fisher Tull. Spanning Renaissance dances, Spanish lyricism, contemporary soundscapes, and a wind band classic, the concert showcases the ensemble’s versatility and artistry.
