New Music Greensboro presents composer and clarinetist Jorge Variego, whose scope crosses style borders including jazz, Argentine tango, electronic music, and beyond. Variego will be accompanied by pianist Adam Ricci, double bassist Steve Landis, and electric bassist Alejandro Rutty.

Luke Ellard, clarinet

Clarinetist, composer, educator, and new music collaborator Luke Ellard strives for art that continually reaches out, valuing a relational spirit, informed engagement, and unapologetic authenticity. Dr. Ellard is professor of clarinet in the UNCG School of Music.

Wind Ensemble

Student Artist Competition second prize winner Taylor Stirm and Spanish conductor Juan José Navarro join the Wind Ensemble for a program of works by faculty composer Mark Engebretson, Arnold Schoenberg, Scott McAllister, Amando Blanquer Ponsoda, Luis Serrano Alarcón, and Jaime Texidor.

Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble will be joined by contemporary music trailblazers Hub New Music and composer Gala Flagello. Currently based in Detroit, the ensemble’s name is inspired by its founding city of Boston’s reputation as a hub of innovation.

The Haven Trio

Haven Trio

Established solo artists soprano Lindsay Kesselman, clarinetist Kimberly Cole Luevano, and pianist Midori Koga joined as the Haven Trio in 2011. Now in its 13th season, Haven has commissioned a compelling body of repertoire from its extended family of composers.
