The UNCG Wind Ensemble brings bold sounds, vivid colors, and compelling musical storytelling to the 36th Annual Carolina Band Festival and Conductors Conference. Featuring guest conductors and a UNCG faculty sextet, the performance showcases works by Paul Dooley, Roger Dickerson, Shuying Li, Gabriela Ortiz, and John Mackey.
The UNCG Wind Ensemble welcomes the GRAMMY® Award-winning Akropolis Reed Quintet, whose virtuosity, expressive range, and distinctive sound take center stage. Featuring works by Ida Gotkovsky, Charles Ives, Johann de Meij, and Matt Browne, the concert moves from quiet contemplation to fiery exhilaration.
The UNCG Clarinet Ensemble, directed by Dr. Catherine Keen Hock, performs works by Janáček, Brandon, Holst, Cook, and Lucas‑Page. Guest conductors include Concetta Brehmer, Sarah Lucas‑Page, and Taylor Stirm.

Dr. Julianne Kirk Doyle is Professor of Clarinet at the SUNY Potsdam Crane School of Music and an active soloist, chamber musician, and advocate for new music. A founding member of the Aria Reed Trio and Principal Clarinet of the Orchestra of Northern New York, Dr. Doyle is known for her championing of contemporary repertoire and her expertise in addressing Stress Velopharyngeal Insufficiency (SVPI) in wind playing.
