Liz Anderson MFA Thesis
February 13 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm
On February 13 and 14, 2026, UNCG Dance MFA Choreography candidate Liz Stillerman Anderson will premiere Muse, a 25-minute contemporary ballet set to an original musical score composed by Philip G Anderson.
Muse is a “dreamy abstraction” of ballet movement vocabulary, fusing classical, historical, and contemporary styles that challenge the “myth” that ballet is a monolithic entity, incapable of evolution or progression.
Performed by nine dancers representing the Greek Muses of the Arts and Sciences, Muse explores ballet’s complex history to question what it means to be seen through a medium known for both its beauty and rigidity and imagines a future for the form that is inclusive, playful, and unlimited.
