More About Kaleidoscope Minds
Kaleidoscope Minds is an exhibition that examines how memories bring together things that have become separated through time or space. We seek art that explores artists’ introspective relationship with recollecting, or binding together things, memories, people, and places that hold weight in the self. We are interested to see what artistic voice creates when reflecting on pieces of the self.
More About The GPS Student Intern Curators
Lydia Ronsick
As a painter, I see a canvas as both a window to the external world, and a mirror to the internal world. As one of the curators of this exhibition, I am interested to see how different artists interact with the theme of reflecting and introspecting, and what unique perspectives and visual languages they can present as a result of confronting themselves.
Ray Owensby
As an art historian, I see art as a language, one that we use to communicate across time and geography as a species. Understanding this language is something we all have in common, but what artists have is the ability to say something new with it. My intent in curating this exhibition is to bring together many individual artists’ relationship with their own pasts, their memories, and their art. I want to see what becomes of an internal artistic conversation with the self, and what happens when those individual stories are bound together.
