The MA in Dance is a 36-hour degree. UNCG School of Dance offers 2 MA degrees:

MA in Dance Theories and Practices and MA in Dance Education

MA in Dance Theories and Practices is an on-campus program designed for preparing students for practical professional dance careers or in preparation for doctoral work. Students develop knowledge in practice and scholarship; literature; and somatic experience within the two year program. An alternate route to Standard Professional I licensure in dance is possible for students through the MA in Dance Theories and Practices; this is not a distance program and students have to attend classes on campus during the normal school day. Students are admitted to this program on an annual basis. Application deadline for the on-campus MA Theories and Practice with optional K-12 initial teacher licensure is November 15. Students interested in the MA in Theories and Practices should contact Dr. Ana Paula Höfling, Director of Graduate Studies at [email protected].

MA in Dance Education is a hybrid distance education program designed for public school dance educators and working dance professionals with full-time jobs. The program offers rich experiences in artistry and scholarship that entwine practice, creative expression, and critical investigation. Students interested in the MA in Dance education  should contact Dr. Mila Parrish, Director of Dance Education at [email protected]. Applications for the on-campus MA program are submitted through ApplyYourself. Application deadline is March 15, 2022.
