30-Day Retention Period for Zoom Recordings

Posted on January 28, 2021

From UNCG ITS:

Beginning February 1, 2021, Zoom cloud recordings will be automatically deleted 30 days after their creation.

When the 30-day retention period is set on February 1, recordings older than 30 days will move to the Zoom trash and remain there for an additional 30 days. While in the Zoom trash, recordings can be recovered and downloadedto save elsewhere. Recordings are permanently deleted after 30 days in the Zoom trash.

Instructors who plan to use the Zoom-Canvas integration to schedule and record meetings should enable Panopto Video in their course before hosting any Zoom meetings. This setting ensures that all Zoom cloud recordings for class meetings are automatically transferred to Panopto where they remain indefinitely.

A Using Panopto to Share Zoom Recordings in Canvas webinar will be held on January 19, 2021, at noon. A recording of the webinar will be posted on the UNCG ITS: Learning Technology YouTube channel.
