Beautifully renovated and reopened in January 2008, the Brown Building Theatre seats 140 people in an intimate and flexible performance space. This space is also the “home” of UNCG Theatre Student Workshops every Monday at 4 pm (students gather to participate and view student produced short scenes and one acts). Annually, UNCG Theatre, North Carolina Theatre for Young People, and THTR 232 productions are staged in Brown, which is also used as a studio classroom (for acting, directing, and oral interpretation classes) and when not in production mode is the location for the weekly Performance area Workshop of student-driven work. The Brown Building Theatre, formerly known as the Hart Recital Hall, is located on the first floor of the Brown Building, 402 Tate Street.
The Brown Building Theatre is handicapped accessible.
