Admissions Process - Theatre

Gaining acceptance into our programs is a two-step process:

Students' application to UNCG must be made through and accepted by the University's Office of Admissions (for undergraduate students) or The Graduate School (for graduate students).
Each student must then be accepted into a specific theatre program:
  • BA in Drama: Simply declare Drama as your major; no audition is needed.
  • BFA in Acting, Design and Theatre Technology, or Technical Production: To enter one of these programs, you must audition or interview at the end of the fall semester of freshman year.
  • BFA Theatre Education: After receiving passing scores on the Praxis I, and achieving a 3.0 GPA, students apply for admission to Teacher Education in the second semester of the sophomore year. A faculty interview is required for admission.
  • MFA: You must also complete an interview or audition and submit a portfolio, resume and/or other material.
