The Profs Do the Movies, “Pictures at a Revolution: The Graduate

February 17, 2019 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

In January, February, and March 2019, Ron Cassell (History Emeritus) and Keith Cushman (English Emeritus) will present the 15th edition of “The Profs Do the Movies,” their popular Emeritus Society program.

In 2019 “The Profs” will also be part of the campus-wide “60s” program, and their topic is “Pictures at a Revolution: Three Movies Nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award for 1967.” The profs will be introducing, screening, and leading a discussion of three great American movies from that year.

The movies are
January 20: the gripping In the Heat of the Night (which won the Oscar)
February 17: the quirky, outrageous The Graduate
March 3: the brilliant, controversial Bonnie and Clyde.

The year 1967 was a pivotal moment for American movies. These three movies demonstrate that a cultural revolution expressive of a changing America had hit Hollywood.

Tickets available at the door. $15 per film, includes refreshments.
