Symposium: “Social Justice and Health Equity: Then and Now”
March 28, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
This symposium, organized by the Department Public Health Education with university and community partners (listed below) will examine historic and current social justice movements and its impact on health equity locally and globally.
Dr. Sharrelle Barber , Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health is the keynote speaker. Her talk will be followed by group-dialogue sessions led by community organizations, Social Designs and Beloved Community Center, with spoken word performances from Artist 4 Justice. Participants will consider how are they contributing to health equity as a revolutionary act of progress for tomorrow.
The Symposium is free and open to the public, but participants are asked to register here by March 14 so that organizers will have a good headcount for food.
