Korean-born pianist Kyoo Hye Lim is an avid performer of solo and collaborative piano works, and embraces a wide range of repertoire and styles from Scarlatti and Bach to the most contemporary twenty-first century works. She has concertized internationally in such settings as Carnegie Hall, Salle Cortot in Paris, Singapore’s Esplanade, the Cathedral Museum in Amalfi, Italy, Conservatorio Municipal “José Iturbi de Valencia, Spain, Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, Wellington Town Hall in New Zealand, and various concert venues in South Korea, USA and Canada. Lim has a particular interest in the music of Spain, having performed and given presentations on the music of Albéniz, De Falla and Granados. Kyoo Hye has won awards in competitions including Ibiza International Piano Competition (Spain), IKIF Competition (USA), American Protégé Romantic Music Competition (USA) and Kapiti Coast Piano Competition (New Zealand) among others.

Besides her regular activities as a solo pianist, Lim is a dynamic and sought-after performer as a chamber musician and accompanist. With her special interest in 20th and 21st music, she has performed chamber music by George Crumb, William Horne and Chen Yi. Her performances of collaborative works can be heard on Blue Griffins records.

Lim is also passionate about teaching. She has enjoyed fourteen years of teaching experience working with piano students in a variety of settings both in the United States as well as in Korea, Singapore, Italy and New Zealand. She has presented public masterclasses in the United States as well as in international music festivals such as the Amalfi Coast Festival of Music and Arts.

Lim’s primary piano professors include Logan Skelton, Yong Hi Moon, and Thomas Hecht. Additional studies have been with Leon Fleisher, John Perry, Roy Howat, Jacques Rouvier and Anton Kuerti. As Singapore’s National Arts council scholar, she received full scholarships for her Bachelor’s degree from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore, and Master’s degree from Peabody Conservatory. She also has been fully supported by Rackham Graduate Fellowship during her studies in University of Michigan where she received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree. In fall of 2016, she joined the piano faculty at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. There she teaches piano and piano pedagogy, and coordinates class piano area.
