More About Arrivederci

In Italian, “arrivederci” literally translates to “until we see each other again.” Artist and art educator Cassandra Liuzzo has spent 89% of her life in Greensboro, North Carolina. From early years vending at Tate Street Festival, to teaching at UNCG’s All Arts Sciences & Technology Camp, Center for Visual Artists (CVA) and Creative Aging Network (CAN-NC), operating Greensboro’s only new-and-used art supply store, Shelf Life Art & Supply Co., and artist residencies at Greensboro Residency for Original Works (GROW) and Elsewhere Museum, Cassandra’s artistic practice has always been made for, of, and within Greensboro’s grassroots art community.

In Fall 2024, she will leave to pursue her MFA in Textiles/Fibers at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. As a farewell-for-now, Arrivederci / Until we see each other again is a holistic retrospective, featuring not just Cassandra’s interdisciplinary fibers-based work, but also beloved pieces from her personal art collection and a curated selection of works from the community of local artist friends with whom she has collaborated and/or conspired.

Featuring works from Hugh Bryant, Michael Clapp, Janie Ledford, Devon McKnight, Matt Micca, Tristin Miller, Angie the Rose, Ann Tilley, Les III, and Sam Wade.

More About Cassandra

Driven by the inherent conflict of creating new objects in a world that already has an abundance of things, Cassandra Liuzzo has grown up to internalize her old Girl Scout maxim “Use Your Resources Wisely.” Many of Cassandra’s processes are based on inventing uses for old and found materials, often incorporating leftover bits of former projects, studies, and personal mementos.

Her works create an abstracted personal narrative, fondly referred to as “Indiscriminate Storytelling,” evoking absurdity, contradiction, and memories lost-and-found.

Cassandra completed residencies at Greensboro Residency for Original Works (2021), and Elsewhere Museum (2023). Cassandra holds a BS in Art Education from Appalachian State University. In August 2024, Cassandra will begin her Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) in Textiles/Fibers from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.
