Information for students majoring in programs other than music
If you are a UNCG student interested in participating in Concert Band, but you are not a music major, we are very happy to have you involved! This page contains information regarding the ensemble and membership procedures. We want you to have a great experience in the band, and that starts with the details found here.
If you are a music major, the placement hearing information on this page does not apply to you. Please return to the main ensemble auditions website and follow the information for your instrument.
Rehearsals
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30–6:00 PM in Room 111
Registration
ENS 392-01 | ENS 692-01 (1 credit)
The first meeting of Concert Band will be on Tuesday, August 15. Following a short organizational meeting, non-music majors will individually play briefly for our team of graduate conductors. This is required of all non-music majors, and the music to be prepared is linked below for each instrument. Please practice this short excerpt so you can share a little of your playing. Remember that while this is required, it is not meant to be stressful! Hearing each member individually will allow us to determine ensemble membership, balance instrumentation, handle part assignments, and design rotations the best way possible.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Kristin Arp, graduate conductor, by email. The ensemble will be conducted by Ms. Arp along with faculty members and other graduate conducting students.
We look forward to making music with you!
