Academic Technology

The College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) provides instructional technology services through individual consultation, online course development assistance, and additional projects as needed. These services are provided to all faculty and staff in the CVPA (Art, Dance, Music, Theatre).

In conjunction with other on-campus offerings, the CVPA is committed to providing faculty with support regarding instructional design, general instructional technology consultation, assistance with technology trends specific to their area in the arts and arts education, and training for tools in their discipline that may be applicable to their instructional or research needs. Classroom Technology Technical Support

UNCG Information Technology Services (ITS) maintains classroom technology support. For assistance with technology equipment in the classroom press the help button located on the black box of every installed teaching station to speak with a member of ITS. Provide them with as detailed a description as possible and they will be able to assist you further to resolve your problem. View the ITS Classroom Technology – Support page.

Instructional Design

The College of Visual and Performing Arts Academic Technology Specialist provides faculty with resources for understanding and applying new and existing technologies in their instruction and learning environments. Individual consultations are provided and directed based on the needs of the faculty and instruction desired. Whether it is the creation of a new online offering or revision of an already developed online course, CVPA ATS services can assist.

Services include (but are not limited to):

  • Suggestions for general course design and workflow
  • Introduction to LMS and SLMS basic course application (using the CVPA Canvas Training Course)
  • Individual consultations for discipline-specific learning tools
  • Introduction to new learning tools based on discipline and need

Course Review

The CVPA ATS can consult with faculty for review of their existing course. Depending on the needs of the instructor the following topics can be discussed and reviewed for an existing course (as well as a course that is currently under development) but are not limited to:

Group Settings

If you wish to schedule a group training or workshop please contact [email protected] with a description of the topic you may wish to discuss or have demonstrated during the training. These types of trainings have worked well at the beginning of the academic year to serve as a refresher for existing technology or introduce newly adopted technology either by CVPA or the University.
