Career Plans & Goals

I hope to have a professional orchestra job and run my own private studio.

Activities:

Drawing, painting, watching YouTube, spending time outside, and of course lots of practicing.

Why did you choose UNCG and specifically UNCG for the Arts?

I felt like the atmosphere of this school would be right for me over all the other schools in North Carolina, and I knew I would get a lot of opportunities here.

Are you where you thought you’d be when you first came to campus?

I’m further than I thought I would be, because I’ve gotten a lot of opportunities I didn’t expect to get.

Peak experience?

Performing Sibelius’s 2nd Symphony back in 2019.

What surprised you?

Honestly, the amount of support I get from other music students. I’m used to being in a very ‘cut-throat’ environment, and I’m so glad it isn’t like that here.

Who helped you get to where you are now?

My private cello teacher back in high school, and all of my friends.

What do you think you will miss the most after you graduate?

Definitely the support. I’m lucky to have a teacher who believes in me and a wonderful cello studio and I don’t think I could find that anywhere else.

Advice for the incoming class?

Don’t be afraid to follow your heart. Build a unique experience for yourself

Describe the moment you knew you UNCG was for you (or alternatively the moment you knew you were in the right major):

I was in the audience of the performance of Verdi’s Requiem back in 2017, and I knew that I wouldn’t to be up there one day.

Your favorite place on campus and why?

I love sitting on the outside patios in the caf, because I love to be outside

Your favorite professor or class and why?

I really like rep class because it gives me a chance to perform and hear my colleagues perform
