Dominick Amendum
School of Theatre- Musical Theatre

When did you begin teaching at UNCG?

2014

What attracted you to the position? Why this university/program? Describe the moment you knew UNCG/CVPA/School was a great fit for you.

The opportunity to create a new program. The openness and support for Musical Theatre – both amongst the students and faculty, as well as CVPA leadership.

Favorite course or subject matter to teach and why?

Musical Theatre Performance – namely MT Studio Classes. It’s incredible to watch our students “put it all together” in these classes.

What makes UNCG, CVPA or your School special? Why do you think students should choose us?

The connection/mentorship that students get from faculty. It goes beyond the classroom and into real life.

Advice for future students who want to be successful?

Absorb every opportunity you can. Don’t OVER commit, but try to immerse yourself fully in all the activities and experiences that will be presented to you. It will make you a better performer, professional, collaborator, and artist!

If you were a student in your program now, what would you do differently from your actual undergraduate experience or what might you pursue that you didn’t?

I would read more plays and musicals. Understand the repertoire more deeply and fully.

Most proud career moment or experience:

Grammy Nomination for THE PRINCE OF EGYPT Cast Album… and opening THE PRINCE OF EGYPT on the West End.

Favorite memory at UNCG?

Each time I get to conduct a show and watch our students perform.
