Area 1: Curricular Opportunities

  • Goal 1: Conduct a comprehensive review of the CVPA curricula to include titles and scope of courses, identification of efficiencies and deficiencies, with a focus on equity and inclusion to ensure global relevance and cutting edge course offerings.
  • Goal 2: Develop specific plans for curriculum revision based upon the results of the comprehensive review.
  • Goal 3: Implement curriculum adjustments according to University policy and best practices.

Area 2: Co-Curricular Opportunities

  • Goal 1: Provide more enrichment experiences for students including internships, transformational study opportunities including study abroad, and master classes with successful artists in their chosen fields to provide current and real-world experiences.
  • Goal 2: Develop and implement a plan for providing career services to CVPA students and alumni to facilitate a transition to the profession
  • Goal 3: Develop and implement a plan for expanded communication with our students for opportunities across the CVPA.
  • Goal 4: Provide more opportunities for students to exercise and to perfect their art through performance, exhibition, etc. to facilitate an experience-informed transition to the profession.

Area 3: Interdisciplinary Opportunities

  • Goal 1: Increase the number and availability of interdisciplinary collaborations both within and outside CVPA in response to students’ desire for cross-disciplinary arts experiences and to enable students to become adaptable artists for sustainable careers.

Area 4: Enrollment

  • Goal 1: Develop and implement a CVPA-wide domestic and international student enrollment strategy informed by available resources with input from faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

Area 1: Faculty and Staff Diversity and Equity

  • Goal 1: Increase faculty and staff ethnic diversity within CVPA to align with that of the CVPA student body.
  • Goal 2: Develop and implement a strategy for ensuring salary equity among faculty and staff.
  • Goal 3: Increase resources for internal equity, diversity, and inclusion grants.

Area 2: Teambuilding to Strengthen College Identity and Culture

  • Goal 1: Establish and maintain open dialogue and enhanced communication with School Directors, faculty, and staff.
  • Goal 2: Establish a culture of cooperation and collaboration by carefully and transparently defining the roles and responsibilities of personnel at the College and School levels.
  • Goal 3: Develop events and activities for CVPA leaders, faculty, and staff that foster collaboration, teambuilding, and shared decision-making, focused on our shared values.

Area 3: Professional Development

  • Goal 1: Expand Professional Development for faculty and staff through the Dean’s Research and Innovation Fund and Staff Professional Development Fund.

Area 1: Community Engagement and Support

  • Goal 1: Continue and expand support for activities at Greensboro Project Space to support students’ desire for cross-disciplinary arts experiences.
  • Goal 2: Develop performance and/or exhibition opportunities for local artists and performers that are created in collaboration with CVPA students to connect students and community.
  • Goal 3: Become a leader for community-engaged arts within Greensboro, the Triad, and the state of North Carolina to help raise the profile of the CVPA
  • Goal 4: Expand activities with, for, and at local K12 schools and school children.
  • Goal 5: Expand support for community activities for underserved populations in the Triad area.

Area 2: Alumni Engagement

  • Goal 1: Continue to refine alumni engagement strategy with annual multi-city alumni events and networking opportunities to create CVPA alumni networks across North Carolina and in major American cities.
  • Goal 2: Identify and/or create opportunities through community arts events for current students to interact with alumni.

Area 3: Community Partnerships

  • Goal 1: Explore strategies to enhance and expand our community partnerships to create additional opportunities for our students.
  • Goal 2: CVPA will act as an advocate for community arts at the local, state, regional, and national levels.

Area 4: Marketing and Communication

  • Goal 1: Optimize resources and support for CVPA marketing team to create a unifying identity for the College.
  • Goal 2: Develop and implement expanded social media strategy with input from students and alumni.

Objective 4: Transform our infrastructure to support our mission

Area 1: Facilities

  • Goal 1: Create College-wide facilities and equipment plan to ensure support of current and future technological needs in CVPA disciplines.
  • Goal 2: Renovate or replace antiquated or hazardous facilities to maintain safe and adequate spaces to learn and work for faculty, staff, and students. Identified priorities include Taylor Theatre, 326/328 Tate Street, and 812 Lilly Street.
  • Goal 3: Begin planning for a Visual and Performing Arts Complex on Tate Street as part of the Millennial District.
  • Goal 4: Secure centrally located office space for the College office.

Area 2: Production Support

  • Goal 1: Expand capacity of Design and Production in the School of Theatre to support CVPA production needs in all disciplines.
  • Goal 2: Expand capacity for recording, streaming, and broadcasting CVPA faculty and student performances to assist with targeted marketing and recruitment.

Area 3: Fundraising and Other Revenue

  • Goal 1: Increase staff resources dedicated to development, grant-seeking, and fundraising.
  • Goal 2: Develop a plan for tailored annual fund activities, including strategies for increasing alumni and other donor participation, for student scholarships to keep our programs competitive and affordable.
  • Goal 3: Optimize revenue generation through box office, space rentals, and other appropriate activities.
