Justin Davis is currently a DMA conducting student at UNC Greensboro where he is the conductor of the University Band. Most recently, he was Director of Bands at Mendota High School in Mendota, IL. Justin earned his B.A. in Music Education with Honors in 1999 and his Master of Music in Wind Conducting with a cognate in music education in 2009 from Western Illinois University. In his ten years of public school teaching, he has taught band, orchestra, choir and theory, most notably at Freedom High School (Orlando, FL) where his students consistently earned Superior ratings in concert, jazz, marching band and solo/ensemble performance and were selected as the Honor Band for the 2006 Chick-Fil-A Bowl. While teaching, Justin continued to perform as a hornist with the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra, the Walt Disney World Orchestra and the Knox-Galesburg Symphony Orchestra. Through clinics and workshops, he has studied conducting with Frank Battisti, Jon Dugle, and Rodney Winther and was the conductor-in-residence and logistical manager for the 41st International Horn Society Symposium held at WIU in 2009. Justin is a member of the National Band Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, MENC, CBDNA, WASBE, the Conductors Guild and the International Horn Society.
