For more than a decade, Dennis Hopson has provided quality audio-technical and recording services to the College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In this capacity, he is responsible for all aspects of audio within the music area – from equipment inventory, to location recording, to live-sound reinforcement. With numerous single-track and full-album credits from commercial recording projects, his work can be heard on labels such as Albany, Bridge, Centaur, Equilibrium, Hungaraton Classic, and Innova. His live recordings have been featured as part of shows on National Public Radio (NPR) and on American Public Media’s radio-show “Performance Today.” Prior to accepting this appointment in 1999, he taught instrumental music (grades 4-8) in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County public schools. As an associate member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), Hopson’s musical education includes a 22-month apprenticeship in recording; the MM in Performance (oboe) from Baylor University in Waco, TX; and the BM in Education (K-12, oboe principle) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
