Amelia Renee Byrd

Amelia Renee Byrd (Memphis, TN) earned an MFA in Dance from University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2014; she is Dance Educator and Chair of the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Penn-Griffin School for the Arts in High Point, NC. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre and Dance and a Bachelor of Professional Studies with a K-12 Dance Education licensure from the University of Memphis (2005 and 2007). Amelia was the Dance Instructor at Colonial Middle School for the Creative and Performing Arts and a member of Project: Motion Dance Collective in Memphis, TN (2008- 2011). She has presented her choreographic work with Project: Motion, the University of Memphis Theatre and Dance Department, the UNCG School of Dance, and Playhouse on the Square’s Summer Youth Theatre Conservatory. As a performer, she was a member of the Greensboro-based dance company JOYEMOVEMENT for four seasons (2014-2018). Amelia has taught and choreographed for the Junior Performance Company at the Dance Project: The School at City Arts in Greensboro, NC (2015-2020), and is a board member for the North Carolina Dance Education Organization (NCDEO).
