Alyssa Stover

Alyssa Stover (née Haney) holds an MA in Dance Theories and Practices from UNCG (2015), where she was a Graduate Teaching Assistant and co-President of the Association of Graduate Students in Dance. She earned a BFA in Dance and History, cum laude, from Tulane University, where she performed in faculty works as a member of Newcomb Dance Company. She is a performer, choreographer, and instructor based in New Orleans and has performed extensively across the United States, as well as in Italy, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. She has taught dance for the Loyola University Department of Theatre Arts & Dance, the Loyola Preparatory Arts Program, and New Orleans Dance Academy, and is a yoga instructor for the Jewish Community Center and Tulane University Campus Recreation.Her research focuses on gender, culture, race, and sexuality in neo-burlesque performance. Since Fall 2020 she is pursuing her PhD in Dance Studies at Ohio State University, where she is the recipient of a University Fellowship.
