Ali Duffy

Ali Duffy is a President’s Excellence in Teaching Associate Professor of Dance and Honors and the Graduate Dance Director at Texas Tech University. She is also the co-founder and Artistic Director of Flatlands Dance Theatre. Dr. Duffy is the author of Careers in Dance: Practical and Strategic Guidance from the Field (2020); her second book, Dancing Motherhood, is under contract with Routledge (2022 release). Her research has been published in Research in Dance Education, the Journal of Dance Education, and Dance Education in Practice. Recent residencies and presentations include: Virginia Tech, University of South Florida, Lindenwood University, Colorado Mesa University, UNC Charlotte, Central Michigan University, Austin Dance Festival, and COCO Dance Festival. She serves on the Committee on Cultivating Leadership of the National Dance Education Organization and served on the board of the Dance Critics Association. Before academia, she performed internationally on Holland America cruise ships (RWS Entertainment) and with contemporary choreographers across the U.S. She also worked as a teacher and adjudicator for the National Dance Alliance and as a dance critic for World Dance Reviews. Dr. Duffy holds a PhD from Texas Woman’s University, an MFA from UNC Greensboro, and a BA from UNC Charlotte.
