organ hallTraining Greensboro pianists to make a comfortable transition from piano to organ. Taught by UNCG School of Music Doctor of Musical Arts students.

The organ program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, under the leadership of Dr. Andre Lash, is pleased to announce a new educational initiative through UNCG’s Community Arts Collaborative (CAC) for the 2018-2019 academic year. We are offering private lessons to Greensboro community members specifically for pianists of moderate to advanced skill who wish to transition to organ, but have had little or no training. These will be taught by Doctor of Musical Arts students from the organ studio who have completed the required course in Organ Pedagogy and will be geared to helping pianists make a comfortable transition from piano to organ. Topics covered will be basic organ technique for hands and feet and the differences from piano technique; how to manipulate the many sounds available on the organ (“registration”); and basic hymn-playing.

Lessons will be scheduled from 3:30-7:00 PM Monday through Friday, and 9:00-1:00 PM on Saturdays.
