Through collaboration between the dancing body with projections and film\, @ the intersection investigates the conceptual boundaries of the mediated body and visual art. @ the intersection invites the audience to break the fourth wall and experience the possibilities of collaborative and interactive art-making. \n  \nMore About Emmalee \nEmmalee Bradley is a dance artist\, choreographer\, and educator originally from South Carolina. Currently\, she is an MFA Candidate in Dance (Choreography) and Graduate Teaching Associate in the School of Dance at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She holds a BA in Dance (with K-12 Teaching Certification) from Winthrop University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Most recently\, Emmalee has performed in work by B.J. Sullivan (You’ll Move Forward…Fast)\, and worked professionally with Robin Gee\, Clarice Young\, Teresa Heiland\, Lee Walton\, Duane Cyrus and Ana Paula Höfling. Prior to moving to North Carolina\, Emmalee performed\, choreographed\, and taught pre-professionally across the East Coast and Mid-West. She was a member of multiple traveling performance ensembles and heavily involved in performance at Winthrop. Emmalee has performed in various works by Maria Caruso\, Lauren Skrabalak\, Mia Cunningham\, Julianna Hane\, Ben Kubie\, Meg Schriffen\, Kelly Ozust\, Bethany Tuffy\, Brian Winn\, Renay Aumiller\, Brady Sanders\, and Michael Rosales\, among many others. Her teaching and choreographic style is informed by release techniques (most notably Safety Release Technique)\, contemporary ballet and modern dance practices\, and her love for visual and digital art\, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Emmalee’s choreographic work is situated in the postmodern/contemporary genre with a focus on process\, experimentation\, improvisation\, and abstraction. Her concert and screen dance choreography has been presented at the American College Dance Association Southeast and Mid-Atlantic Conferences (Bizarre!\, Evocation). Emmalee is immersed in creative and scholarly research at the intersection of art making and pedagogical practice. Her choreographic research focuses on interdisciplinary collaboration with other dancers\, composers\, and multimedia artists. In addition\, Emmalee’s endeavors in both concert and screen dance emphasize her goal to create visually pleasing and experimental art that fosters collaboration and is a catalyst for cognitive thinking. Her recent awards include the Kristina Larson Graduate Dance Fund and the Dean’s Research/Creative Initiative Fund.

DESCRIPTION:RESERVE TICKETSDOWNLOAD PROGRAMVIEW ON CPVA LIVE\nTeri Bickham\, voice\nJennifer Liuken\, mezzo soprano\nElaine Ross\, piano and composer \n\n\n\nAudience Note\nTickets are required to attend any concert or recital in person. Face coverings that cover the nose and mouth are strongly encouraged\, but not required\, while inside the performance hall. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nSoprano Theresa “Teri” Bickham has been praised for her “expressive legato line” and “fine piano nuances.” She made her European debut singing scenes from La Traviata under the direction of Maestro Eduardo Müller. Dr. Bickham has performed with opera companies throughout the United States including Houston Grand Opera\, Opera New Jersey\, Opera in the Heights\, Loudoun Lyric Opera\, and Opera Camerata of Washington. She has performed a diverse repertory of operatic roles that include a specialization in Mozart heroines (Donna Anna\, La Countessa\, Fiordiligi)\, Italian opera (Adina\, Violetta\, Musetta)\, German operetta (Rosalinde\, Hanna Glawari)\, and contemporary American opera (A Bird in Your Ear\, The Beautiful Bridegroom.) \nDr. Bickham is a frequent guest artist in the United States and Europe. Recent concert appearances include works by Vivaldi\, Bach\, Mozart\, Handel\, Brahms\, Rossini\, Orff\, Vaughn Williams and numerous orchestral pops performances. In competition\, Dr. Bickham was an international semi-finalist in the Concorso Lirico Internazionale per Cantanti lirici Rosa Ponselle in Caiazzo\, Italy. She has also been the winner of national and regional competitions including: The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions-Mid-Atlantic Regional Finalist\, Palm Beach Opera Semi-Finalist\, Shreveport Opera Singer of the Year Finalist\, MD/DC National Association of Teachers of Singing\, and the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Houston. \nAn avid recitalist\, Dr. Bickham has performed recital tours in Maryland\, Virginia\, Texas\, Washington DC\, and most recently as a part of the Bellingham Music Club in Washington state. Her passion for art song has led to diverse programs specializing in repertoire written for specific voices and the exploration of the performer’s role in the creation of music. \nDr. Bickham’s performance experience has culminated in her passion for training young professionals. Her students have been recognized for their polished performances and exemplary teaching. Former students have attended prestigious schools that include The Juilliard School\, Indiana University\, the University of Maryland\, the University of Tennessee\, the University of Denver Lamont School of Music\, Bard College Conservatory of Music\, Ithaca College\, Boston Conservatory\, and Roosevelt University. In addition\, they have won prizes with the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions\, Annapolis Opera\, the National Society of Arts and Letters\, National Association of Teachers of Singing\, and the Classical Singer competitions. Many students are performing professionally with such companies as The Metropolitan Opera\, Opera Theater of St. Louis\, Marilyn Horne: The Song Continues Masterclass Series at Carnegie Hall\, Annapolis Opera\, Knoxville Opera\, New York Lyric Opera\, Disney Cruise Lines\, and Creativiva Entertainment. \nDr. Bickham is proud of the many music educators that she has taught. Her former students are passionate and respected educators throughout Maryland\, Virginia\, Pennsylvania\, Texas\, and other areas in the United States. \nDr. Bickham holds degrees from the University of Maryland College Park (DMA)\, the University of Houston (MM)\, and Towson University (BM). She received additional training as a young artist at Opera New Jersey and AIMS in Graz. Dr. Bickham taught at Towson University for thirteen years before joining the faculty of the University of North Carolina Greensboro as an Assistant Professor of Voice in 2019.
