Based on the idea that oral traditions should be part of every musician’s education\, the group learns all its music by ear\, through careful listening and repetition\, the way traditional American music has been learned for centuries.

Please consider a gift to the School of Music to support our mission and ensure the future of music at UNCG. \n\n \n   \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Red Clay Saxophone Quartet was formed in 2003 when the fates conspired to bring four internationally recognized saxophonists (Susan Fancher\, Robert Faub\, Steven Stusek and Mark Engebretson) together in Greensboro\, North Carolina. In January 2022\, Laurent Estoppey joined the quartet on alto saxophone. The RCSQ takes its name from the area’s luscious red soil. The Quartet presents a varied repertoire from classical to jazz to new music to tango\, featuring music by composers such as Chen Yi\, Ben Johnston\, James Paul Sain\, György Ligeti\, Guillermo Lago\, Francis Poulenc\, Alejandro Rutty\, Steve Reich\, Mark Engebretson\, David Maslanka\, Martin Bresnick\, Burton Beerman\, and Gavin Bryars.

Please consider a gift to the School of Music to support our mission and ensure the future of music at UNCG. \n\n \n   \n\n\n\n\n\nTim Warfield\, Jr.\, a native of York\, Pennsylvania\, began studying the alto saxophone at age nine. He switched to tenor saxophone during his first year at William Penn Sr. High School where he participated in various musical ensembles and won many jazz soloist awards\, including second out of forty competitors at the Montréal Festival of Music. After high school\, Warfield attended Howard University in Washington\, DC for two years before leaving to lead and co-lead groups in the Central Pennsylvania and Baltimore/Washington areas. In 1991 Warfield placed third at the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition held at the Smithsonian Institution. \nWarfield has made several television appearances including the Today Show\, Bill Cosby’s You Bet Your Life (where he was a member of the house band until 1992)\, and Ted Turner’s 1998 Trumpet Awards. Additionally\, he has made numerous stage appearances with Donald Byrd\, Michelle Rosewoman\, Marcus Miller\, Marlon Jordan\, James Williams\, Christian McBride\, Winard Harper\, Dizzy Gillespie\, Larry Coryell\, Dakota Staton\, Johnny Coles\, Leslie Burrs\, Isaac Hayes\, Peter Nero\, Shirley Scott\, Jimmy Smith\, Billy Paul\, Kenny Barron\, Nicholas Payton\, Charles Fambrough\, Eric Reed\, Carl Allen\, Terell Stafford\, Stefon Harris\, Orrin Evans\, The Newport Millennium All Stars\, “Papa” John Defrancesco\, Edgar Bateman\, Joey Defrancesco\, Claudio Raggazzi\, Derrick Gardner and the Jazz Prophets\, Trudy Pitts\, Dana Hall\, and others. \n\nROBINSON FAMILY VISITING JAZZ ARTISTS\nA residency made possible by the Robinson Family Fund\, established by Ward Robinson (’19 PBC Jazz\, ’10 MPH) and Pamela Pittman\, is bringing three jazz luminaries to UNCG’s School of Music this year. Saxophonist Julieta Eugenio\, Trumpeter Marcus Printup\, and Saxophonist Tim Warfield will come to Greensboro for residencies with students and concerts which will be open to the public.

Please consider a gift to the School of Music to support our mission and ensure the future of music at UNCG. \n   \n\n\n\n\n \nDr. Courtney Miller is the oboe professor at UNC Greensboro where she teaches oboe\, chamber music\, and reed classes. Prior to her position at the UNCG\, she served on faculty at the University of Iowa\, Boston College in Massachusetts\, and Ashland University in Ohio. During the summers Dr. Miller performs and teaches at Lutheran Summer Music in Indiana and the UNCG Summer Music Camp.  \nA highly regarded performer and pedagogue\, Dr. Miller tours as a soloist\, chamber musician\, and teacher throughout the United States\, Europe\, Asia\, and South America. An experienced orchestral musician\, Miller has performed in many orchestras up-and-down the east coast of the United States from the Jacksonville Symphony in Florida to the Portland Symphony in Maine. She now performs regularly with Orchestra Iowa\, the Quad City Symphony Orchestra\, Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony\, and the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra. \nDr. Miller is a versatile artist devoted to performing established repertoire as well as new compositions and lesser-known works. Her 2019 album Portuguese Perspectives introduces a collection of world-premiere recordings for the oboe by Portuguese composers and includes several new commissions by Miller. This album and her 2015 release Modern Fairy Tales are readily available on iTunes\, Amazon\, and Spotify. American Record Guide praises her “seamless consistency in the various registers of the oboe…and sensitive phrasing and articulation.” Fanfare Magazine hails Courtney Miller as “a performer of considerable skill\, with an unfailingly lovely sound\, abundant technical ability\, and a special gift for turning notes into poetry.”   \nIn addition to collaborations within the field of music\, Dr Miller has a flair for interdisciplinary work. She has collaborated with hip-hop dancer Ernest “EKnock” Phillips; belly-dancer Janelle Issis; and most recently choreographer and dancer Kristin Marrs at University of Iowa. Since 2016\, Marrs and Miller have performed in many concerts featuring oboe and dancer and have toured together throughout the United States. Perhaps her most daring collaboration yet is Psionic\, which explores interactive movement data between oboist and computer through a live stream of EEG data with composer Christopher Jette; printmaker Terry Conrad; and digital media designer Daniel Fine.  \nDr. Miller has authored scholarly articles pertaining to the English horn’s role in the orchestra and Charles Loeffler’s Deux Rhapsodies for oboe\, viola and piano published respectively in the Double Reed Journal and the Journal of the American Viola Society. She has also presented recitals and papers at the College Music Society’s Northeast Regional Conference. Dr. Miller performs recitals regularly at the International Double Reed Society’s annual conferences. In 2017 she was a featured artist at the first international conference of the Associação Brasileira de Palhetas Duplas (Brazilian Double Reed Society or ABPD). \nCourtney Miller has a Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University\, a Master of Music from Cleveland Institute of Music\, and a Bachelor of Music from Florida State University. Her primary teachers include John Ferrillo\, John Mack\, and Eric Ohlsson.  \nDr. Miller serves as 1st Vice President of the Midwest Double Reed Society and is a member of the International Double Reed Society\, the College Music Society\, and Sigma Alpha Iota. Courtney Miller is a Lorée Artist.

Please consider a gift to the School of Music to support our mission and ensure the future of music at UNCG. \n   \n\n\n\n\nAbigail Pack\, Professor of Horn at UNCG and native of Roanoke\, Virginia\, received her training from East Carolina University (BMA)\, University of Iowa (MM)\, and University of Wisconsin-Madison (DMA) where she was a Bolz Teaching Fellow. Before assuming her current position at UNCG she was Horn Faculty at James Madison University from 2001 to 2008. She has also been on faculty at Knox College in Galesburg\, IL; Western State College in Gunnison\, CO; and taught in the Gunnison Watershed School District. An avid symphony player\, Dr. Pack has held positions with the Barton Symphony Orchestra\, Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra\, Des Moines Symphony Orchestra\, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra\, and currently performs with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra\, the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival Orchestra\, the Southwest Chamber Orchestra\, and the Opera Roanoke Orchestra. Other venues have included performances with the Iowa Brass Quintet\, Western Slope Brass Band\, and Massanutten Brass Band. Recent performance and presentation highlights include the National Flute Association (Washington D.C. with the Montpelier Winds)\, the International Horn Symposium (University of Cape Town\, South Africa)\, the International Midwest Band and Orchestra Conference (Chicago)\, and the Kennedy Center of The Performing Arts (Washington). \n\nThe renowned UNCG Bands are dedicated to the performance\, study\, and cultivation of wind band music of the highest quality\, and are a serious and distinctive medium of musical expression. Please consider a gift to the School of Music to support our mission and ensure the future of music at UNCG. \n\n \n   \n\n\n\n\n\nClarinetist\, composer\, educator\, and new music collaborator Luke Ellard strives for art that continually reaches out\, valuing a relational spirit\, informed engagement\, and unapologetic authenticity. \nFor Luke\, collaboration is what gives music life. As clarinetist\, they have performed with members of Bang On a Can All Stars\, Eighth Blackbird\, International Contemporary Ensemble\, Fifth House Ensemble\, Arkansas Symphony\, and Lone Star Wind Orchestra. Their current performance projects center around their self-produced solo cross-genre/electronic band LE\, and commissioning new exciting works for the clarinet. \nTheir collaborative spirit is reflected in their life as a composer as well\, drawing inspiration from a personal and communicative place. Their music has been performed by groups such as New Trombone Collective (Blue Interjections\, finalist in the 2013 Slide Factory International Composition Contest)\, the North Texas Wind Symphony (The Seer\, concerto for Bassoon and Wind Ensemble)\, HOCKET (someone else’s days\, #What2020SoundsLike)\, the University of Texas Symphony Band (Shifting Tides)\, Michigan State University Concert Band\, Barkada Quartet (threads of execution)\, the Mother Falcon String Quartet (all I’m feeling right now\, winner of Golden Hornet Composer Lab’s String Quartet Smackdown III)\, and in collaboration with cellist Nick Photinos (haven’t yet\, Bang on a Can Summer Festival). \nDr. Ellard joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the Fall of 2023 as Visiting Assistant Professor of Clarinet\, having previously served on faculty at the University of Oklahoma and Midwestern State University while teaching privately and performing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Luke earned their Doctor of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance with related studies in Contemporary Music and Music Entrepreneurship at the University of North Texas\, studying under Kimberly Cole Luevano. Additionally\, Luke has earned degrees from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music (James Campbell & Eric Hoeprich)\, the University of Texas at Austin (Yevgeniy Sharlat\, Dan Welcher\, & Donald Grantham)\, and Louisiana Tech University (Lawrence Gibbs\, Joe L. Alexander).

Please consider a gift to the School of Music to support our mission and ensure the future of music at UNCG. \n\n \n   \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n \nDescribed as a “true musical talent and professional” Eric Willie has a varied career as a percussion soloist\, chamber musician\, orchestral player\, and teacher. \nHaving performed on three continents\, Eric has presented solo performances throughout the United States\, Russia\, Brasil\, and Colombia. Most recently\, Eric performed as soloist with the Tamborimba Ensamble in Cali\, Colombia\, and conducted Edgard Varese’s “Ionisation” at the III Encontro Percussivo in Recife\, Pernambuco Brasil. In the United States\, Eric has performed or conducted at ten Percussive Arts Society’s International Conventions (PASIC)\, presented at the Midwest Clinic\, as well as several state days of percussion and music educator conventions. \nAs a chamber musician\, Eric performs with the Nief-Norf Project and the Legal Wood Project. As well\, as an avid promoter of new music for percussion\, Eric has commissioned and/or premiered works by Christopher Adler\, Michael Burritt\, Doug Bristol\, Eric Cha-Beach\, Elliott Cole\, Greg Danner\, Christopher Deane\, Paul Lansky\, Anna Meadors\, Marc Mellits\, Leroy Osmon\, John Psathas\, Josh Quillen\, Baljinder Sekhon\, Adam Silverman\, D.J. Sparr\, Jason Treuting\, Blake Tyson\, Alejandro Viñao\, Matt Walker\, Jamie Whitmarsh\, and James Wood. \nActive within the Percussive Arts Society (PAS)\, Eric previously served as Chair of the International Percussion Ensemble Committee\, President of the Tennessee Chapter\, as a New Literature and Recordings Reviewer for Percussive Notes journal\, and now serves as Vice President for the North Carolina Chapter of the Society. His percussion ensembles have been named winners of the 2015 and 2020 PAS International Percussion Ensemble Competition. \nIn addition to his talents as a classical percussionist\, Eric is known for his marching percussion arranging and teaching experience. He has served on staff with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps\, served as a Percussion Consultant with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (2012-2013)\, and instructor and/or arranger for the Spirit\, Southwind\, Carolina Crown\, and the Madison Scouts drum and bugle corps. He has also instructed for the University of North Texas “A” Line\, Music City Mystique\, and as Faculty for the Music for All World Percussion Symposium. \nAs an author and composer\, his books and solo have been published by Innovative Percussion\, TapSpace\, and Row-Loff. The latter\, his coauthored “All-Inclusive Audition Etudes” book\, has been adopted for use by the North Carolina and Tennessee Music Educator’s Associations. \nCurrently\, Eric serves as Professor of Percussion Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro\, where he directs a comprehensive percussion program. She has inspired and premiered over 100 new compositions and continues to collaborate with composers both young and more established to create new\, vibrant repertoire for the saxophone. Audiences and critics praise her ability to fill even the most complex notation with life\, a trademark of her work as a champion of new music. Susan Fancher is an active performer appearing in concerts as a concerto soloist\, with pianist Ināra Zandmane\, with the Red Clay Saxophone Quartet\, performing music with electronics\, in sacred settings\, and with the band The Difficulties. She is the former soprano saxophonist of the Amherst\, Vienna\, and Rollin’ Phones saxophone quartets.  \nRecent and upcoming performances of new compositions include Scott Lindroth’s Schley Road together with the Ciompi String Quartet\, Glory by Harriet Steinke with the Women’s Wind Ensemble\, Men’s Culture by Stuart Saunders Smith with percussionist Joseph Van Hassel\, Hedera by James Paul Sain\, and Mending Time by Martin Bresnick with the Red Clay Saxophone Quartet\, Enveloped by Jenni Watson for solo saxophone\, new music by Shar Joyner\, Indiria Everett\, and Suzanne Polak for saxophone and piano\, and Not The End and other new music created and performed by The Difficulties.  \n\nContinue reading about Susan Fancher\nAs a concerto soloist\, Susan Fancher has championed concertos for soprano saxophone by Mark Engebretson\, David Kirkland Garner\, Hilary Tann\, and Michael Torke. Susan Fancher’s discography lists over twenty CDs on Arizona University Records\, Philips\, New World\, Lotus Records Salzburg\, Parma\, Mark Records\, Extraplatte\, and Innova Records. Her CD release “Of Erthe and Air: Susan Fancher and friends play music of Hilary Tann” on Arizona University Records features a live performance of Tann’s soprano saxophone concerto Shakkei with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra\, performed at the World Saxophone Congress in Bangkok. \nShe has performed in many of the world’s leading venues including Sala São Paulo\, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall\, London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall\, Vienna’s Konzerthaus\, Filharmonia Hall in Warsaw\, and the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts\, and has appeared in concert in Albania\, Austria\, Brazil\, Bulgaria\, Canada\, China\, Finland\, France\, Germany\, Ireland\, Italy\, Lithuania\, Luxembourg\, Norway\, Spain\, Sweden\, Thailand\, and throughout the US. \nBorn and raised in Albion\, New York\, Susan Fancher earned undergraduate degrees in both saxophone performance and mathematics\, as well as her Doctor of Music\, from Northwestern University\, where she was a student of Dr. Frederick Hemke. She was awarded the Médaille d’Or (Gold Medal) from the conservatory in Bordeaux\, France\, where she studied with Monsieur Jean-Marie Londeix. Susan Fancher is a Lecturing Fellow at Duke University where she teaches saxophone and entrepreneurship\, and coaches chamber music.  She is an artist clinician for the Vandoren/DANSR and Selmer companies. \n\n\nGrowing up in the rich environment of New Orleans as the oldest son of pianist and educator Ellis Marsalis\, Branford Marsalis was drawn to music along with siblings Wynton\, Delfeayo\, and Jason.  His first instrument\, the clarinet\, gave way to the alto and then the tenor and soprano saxophones when the teenage Branford began working in local bands.  A growing fascination with jazz as he entered college gave him the basic tools to obtain his first major jobs\, with trumpet legend Clark Terry and alongside Wynton in Art Blakey’s legendary Jazz Messengers.  When the brothers left to form the Wynton Marsalis Quintet\, the world of uncompromising acoustic jazz was invigorated.  Branford formed his own quartet in 1986 and\, with a few minor interruptions in the early years\, has sustained the unit as his primary means of expression.  Known for the telepathic communication among its uncommonly consistent personnel\, its deep book of original music replete with expressive melodies and provocative forms\, and an unrivaled spirit in both live and recorded performances\, the Branford Marsalis Quartet has long been recognized as the standard to which other ensembles of its kind must be measured.  \nClassical music inhabits a growing portion of Branford’s musical universe. A frequent soloist with classical ensembles\, Branford has become increasingly sought after as a featured soloist with such acclaimed orchestras as the Chicago\, Detroit\, Düsseldorf\, and North Carolina Symphonies and the Boston Pops\, with a growing repertoire that includes compositions by Debussy\, Glazunov\, Ibert\, Mahler\, Milhaud\, Rorem and Vaughn Williams.   \n\nContinue reading about Branford Marsalis\nUnder the direction of conductor Gil Jardim\, Branford Marsalis and members of the Philharmonia Brasileira toured the United States in the Fall of 2008\, performing works by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the revered Brazilian composer’s death. Making his first appearance with the New York Philharmonic in the summer of 2010\, Marsalis was invited to join them again as soloist in their 2010‐2011 concert series\, where he demonstrated his versatility and prowess\, bringing “a gracious poise and supple tone… and an insouciant swagger” (New York Times) to the repertoire. In 2013\, Branford served as Creative Director for the Ascent Series of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra\, which included two week-long residencies as well as several concerts with the CSO.   \nIn Fall of 2014\, Branford joined the highly-celebrated Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia in Marsalis “Well-Tempered” on a 20-city US tour\, performing Baroque masterpieces by Albinoni\, Bach\, Handel\, Vivaldi\, and others. In October 2015\, Branford took on the challenging Saxophone Concerto by composer John Adams\, performing the piece with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. In 2016\, he traveled to Germany for a concert with the Bayerische Staatsoper at the National Theatre in Munich\, performing an array of selections including Jacob Ter Veldhuis’ Tallahatchie Concerto\, and then returned to Asia twice more that year\, first for his debut collaboration with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong\, followed by a trip to Kuala Lumpur where he performed two concerts with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra at the Petronas Twin Towers. In Fall 2016\, he returned to his home state of Louisiana where he was invited to be a guest soloist with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra\, presenting works by John Williams and Heitor Villa Lobos. \nAs for other public stages\, Branford spent a period touring with Sting\, collaborated with the Grateful Dead and Bruce Hornsby\, served as Musical Director of The Tonight Show Starring Jay Leno\, and hosted National Public Radio’s widely syndicated Jazz Set.  The range and quality of these diverse activities established Branford Marsalis as a familiar presence beyond the worlds of jazz and classical music\, while his efforts to help heal and rebuild New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina mark him as an artist with an uncommonly effective social vision.  Together with Harry Connick\, Jr. and New Orleans Habitat for Humanity\, Branford conceived and helped to realize The Musicians’ Village\, a community in the Upper Ninth Ward that provides homes to the displaced families of musicians and other local residents.  At the heart of The Musicians’ Village stands the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music\, a community center dedicated to preserving the rich New Orleans musical legacy containing state-of-the art spaces for performance\, instruction\, and recording.  \nSome might gauge Branford Marsalis’s success by his numerous awards\, including three Grammys and his citation as a Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts.  To Branford\, however\, these are only way stations along what continues to be one of the most fascinating and rewarding journeys in the world of music.\n\n\nInāra Zandmane is one of the leading collaborative pianists of North Carolina. She has performed with such artists as Dmitry Sitkovetsky\, Augustin Hadelich\, Ray Chen\, Sergei Antonov\, Yura Lee\, Martin Storey\, Paul Coletti\, Ian Clarke\, and Branford Marsalis\, in addition to regularly performing with Blue Mountain Ensemble and in duos with saxophonist Susan Fancher and violinist Fabián López. In 2008\, Ināra teamed up with Latvian violinist Vineta Sareika on a tour leading them to Boston\, Cleveland\, and Toronto\, before culminating in an invitation-only performance at the Kennedy Center arranged by the Latvian Embassy in the United States. In 2012\, Ināra stepped in on a short notice to perform with violinist Ray Chen at the Aspen Music Festival\, followed by a recital in Lima\, Peru. In 2014\, she was invited to the International Saxophone Symposium and Competition in Columbus\, Georgia to present a recital with Vincent David.  \nMs. Zandmane is frequently invited to serve as an official accompanist at national conferences and competitions\, among them the North American Saxophone Alliance conference and MTNA National competition since 2005. She is the accompanist in residence for the Southeastern Piano Festival that takes place in Columbia\, SC every June. Ināra Zandmane is the staff accompanist at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she performs with students and faculty more than fifty different programs per year.  \nInāra Zandmane’s solo recordings include the piano works by Maurice Ravel\, recorded together with her husband Vincent van Gelder\, and the complete piano sonatas by Alexander Scriabin. Ināra Zandmane has collaborated with leading Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks\, giving Latvian premieres of his piano works The Spring Music and Landscapes of the Burnt-out Earth and recording the latter one on the Conifer Classics label. She also can be heard in various chamber music collaborations on Navona Records and Centaur Records.

Although the program is housed in one of the largest music schools in the Southeast\, it is kept intentionally small\, resulting in an intensive and highly personalized learning environment.

Prior to her appointment at UNCG\, Dr. Ycaza served as Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at the University of Northern Iowa. She has also served on the music faculties of Virginia Commonwealth University\, Virginia State University\, Longwood University\, and the University of Richmond. \nDr. Ycaza is a founding member of Calypsus Brass\, a brass quintet dedicated to performing new works and providing recordings for composers. Calypsus is committed to promoting the works of composers from historically marginalized groups and serves as an Ensemble-in-Residence for Rising Tide Music Press. Dr. Ycaza is active as an orchestral musician and currently serves as Principal Tuba of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony. Her recent solo performances have focused on music for low brass with electronic accompaniment\, music by women composers\, and her own transcriptions and arrangements for tuba and euphonium. She has performed as a soloist\, offered masterclasses\, and presented on the topic of mindfulness in music around the United States and in South America. \nDr. Ycaza holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Shenandoah University\, a Master of Music degree and Artist Diploma from Yale University\, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has studied with Ross Walter\, Toby Hanks\, Mike Roylance\, Andrew Hitz\, and Michael Bunn. Dr. Ycaza is a Miraphone Tuba Artist. \n\nThe UNCG Wind Ensemble is a highly select concert band of fifty performers majoring in music at the UNCG School of Music. Performers in the current Wind Ensemble are drawn from sixteen states\, Slovenia\, and Hong Kong. The ensemble has enjoyed a distinguished record of performance throughout its history. In January 1992\, the UNCG Wind Ensemble performed “A Tribute to John Philip Sousa” to a capacity crowd of 2\,700 at the Concert Hall of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington\, D.C. Twice\, the Wind Ensemble earned critical acclaim from The Washington Post following concerts in the nation’s capital. The Wind Ensemble has performed throughout the eastern United States in recent years including the first-ever performance\, in 1987\, by a North Carolina collegiate ensemble in Lincoln Center\, New York City. The Wind Ensemble performed that same year in West Virginia\, Virginia\, Pennsylvania\, and Washington\, D.C. The Wind Ensemble has recorded nineteen commercially-available albums which have received widespread praise. \nIn 1985\, the Wind Ensemble performed a series of concerts with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer-conductor Karel Husa. In 1988\, the UNCG Wind Ensemble performed in New Orleans\, Louisiana by invitation of the College Band Directors National Association for the Southern Division convention. On a number of occasions\, the Wind Ensemble has commissioned and premiered works from leading band composers. In November of 1990\, the Wind Ensemble performed for the Southern Division of MENC convention. In February 1994\, the UNCG Wind Ensemble performed for a convention of the CBDNA and NBA in Williamsburg\, Virginia. In March 1999\, the Wind Ensemble performed for the national convention of the American Bandmasters Association in Melbourne\, Florida. In February 2000\, the Wind Ensemble performed for the CBDNA Southern Division Convention hosted at UNCG. In 2006\, the Wind Ensemble performed in The Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda\, Maryland\, shared a concert with the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in Arlington\, Virginia\, and collaborated with Karel Husa\, David Dzubay\, and Carter Pann in the performaces of their music\, including two commissions. In 2009\, the Wind Ensemble performed at the CBDNA National Convention at the University of Texas at Austin and performed additional concerts in Georgia\, Alabama\, Louisiana\, and Texas as part of a week-long tour. The Wind Ensemble performed at the 2011 National Convention of the American Bandmasters Association and the 2013 National Conference of the College Band Directors National Association hosted in Greensboro. Most recently\, the UNCG took a twelve day concert tour through the Czech Republic\, Austria\, and Italy\, the highlight of which was a concert in Prague’s famed Dvořák Hall.
