Through a four-week intensive course that meets for 14+ hours every weekend\, students work through preconceived notions about their own image-making and artistic practices\, spending large blocks of time drawing in response to prompts or guidelines and then discussing the learning process with peers and this year’s Drawing Marathon instructor\, Jennifer Meanley. And as we get older and our loved ones start crossing over to the other side\, we find ourselves dealing with death and all the bells and whistles that go along with that incredibly massive topic.  It is an experience that awaits us all.We invite you to come see how three Greensboro artists interpret DEATH.  Please join us and come share your stories that might help all of us relate to one another in this big fragile world we call Life. \n\n\n\nMore About the Artists \n\n\n\nPaige CoxAs a fiber artist\, I love to play with color and texture. It has always been a passion of mine to incorporate humor into my work as well. I have worked as a textile artist my whole life experimenting with weaving\, tapestry\, embroidery\, felting and now tufting. I enjoy manipulating materials\, incorporating reused items\, and everyday objects in my pieces. Filipino social-psychologist\, Vergilio Enriquez\, defined it as the recognition of a shared identity\, an inner self\, shared with others. This bridge between collectivist and individualist culture gives us the room to reflect. Should we build these bits of shared humanity into a path towards peace? Dee Santorini will be teaching two mini encaustic classes where you will learn encaustic techniques\, and be able to create a piece of art that you can take home! Blend hot beeswax with pigment\, and create your masterpiece! Cost of class is $45\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nGreensboro Project Space is pleased to announce a fundraising event in support of Western North Carolina (WNC) artists devastated by Hurricane Helene\, organized by Asheville-based artist Margee Halsch.  \n\n\n\nThis exhibition will show works in a variety of mediums from nine WNC artists displaced by Hurricane Helene. The hurricane and flood waters from the French Broad River have decimated the historic River Arts District in Asheville\, leaving hundreds of artists without inventory\, studios\, and gallery spaces. \n\n\n\n“To be able to support our fellow Asheville art community in this way is reflective of what’s at the heart of GPS – supporting artists through community and humanity. It is with open doors and open arms that we welcome these Asheville-based artists. Our hope is to play just a small part in a much larger revitalization process by offering a platform for them to share their artistry during this time of recovery\,” says Greensboro Project Space Director\, Caitlyn Schrader.  \n\n\n\nThis exhibition offers an additional opportunity for the Greensboro community to support the recovery of this group of artists\, both financially and emotionally. All artworks will be available for sale\, with 100% of profits going directly to the artists.
