February One Place)Registration: https://piedmontfibershed.org/event/backyard-eco-printing-and-solar-dyeing/ \nSpace is limited (12 max) \nAn easy method for dyeing fabric or paper using plants\, jars\, and sunshine and rusty cans. Learn how to use backyard garden cuttings to make surface patterns on fabric in two different processes. Use your foraged flowers with two different shibori methods to explore color patterns from plant based materials. Materials will be provided\, but you can also bring your own. These processes work best on bandana or scarf size fabric (cotton\, wool or silk) and can also be used with small skeins of wool. 10+years and up is recommended for this class. \n\nMaterials provided: pre-rusted cans\, glass jars\, pre-mordanted bandanas and scraps for color testing\, plant materials for printing. \nCollected plant materials may include: foraged flowers\, maple leaves\, Japanese cedar leaves\, oak leaves\, eucalyptus and more. These items date between 1825 and 1905 and represent the earliest examples of moving images. \nAn opening reception will be held August 19 from 6:00- 8:00pm in the Gatewood Gallery.\nAdmission is free – come create your own animation toys. \n  \nThe Gatewood Studio Arts Gallery is open Monday – Friday from 9:00 – 4:00pm and Saturdays from 1:00 – 4:00pm

Afterwards take a stroll over to the Weatherspoon Art Museum to see works by our graduating MFA students.
