Most recently\, Eric performed as soloist with the Tamborimba Ensamble in Cali\, Colombia\, and conducted Edgard Varese’s “Ionisation” at the III Encontro Percussivo in Recife\, Pernambuco Brasil. In the United States\, Eric has performed or conducted at ten Percussive Arts Society’s International Conventions (PASIC)\, presented at the Midwest Clinic\, as well as several state days of percussion and music educator conventions. \nAs a chamber musician\, Eric performs with the Nief-Norf Project and the Legal Wood Project. As well\, as an avid promoter of new music for percussion\, Eric has commissioned and/or premiered works by Christopher Adler\, Michael Burritt\, Doug Bristol\, Eric Cha-Beach\, Elliott Cole\, Greg Danner\, Christopher Deane\, Paul Lansky\, Anna Meadors\, Marc Mellits\, Leroy Osmon\, John Psathas\, Josh Quillen\, Baljinder Sekhon\, Adam Silverman\, D.J. Sparr\, Jason Treuting\, Blake Tyson\, Alejandro Viñao\, Matt Walker\, Jamie Whitmarsh\, and James Wood. \nActive within the Percussive Arts Society (PAS)\, Eric previously served as Chair of the International Percussion Ensemble Committee\, President of the Tennessee Chapter\, as a New Literature and Recordings Reviewer for Percussive Notes journal\, and now serves as Vice President for the North Carolina Chapter of the Society. His percussion ensembles have been named winners of the 2015 and 2020 PAS International Percussion Ensemble Competition. \nIn addition to his talents as a classical percussionist\, Eric is known for his marching percussion arranging and teaching experience. Prior to her appointment at UNCG\, Dr. Ycaza served as Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at the University of Northern Iowa. She has also served on the music faculties of Virginia Commonwealth University\, Virginia State University\, Longwood University\, and the University of Richmond. \nDr. Ycaza is a founding member of Calypsus Brass\, a brass quintet dedicated to performing new works and providing recordings for composers. Calypsus is committed to promoting the works of composers from historically marginalized groups and serves as an Ensemble-in-Residence for Rising Tide Music Press. Dr. Ycaza is active as an orchestral musician and currently serves as Principal Tuba of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony. Her recent solo performances have focused on music for low brass with electronic accompaniment\, music by women composers\, and her own transcriptions and arrangements for tuba and euphonium. She has performed as a soloist\, offered masterclasses\, and presented on the topic of mindfulness in music around the United States and in South America. \nDr. Ycaza holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Shenandoah University\, a Master of Music degree and Artist Diploma from Yale University\, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has studied with Ross Walter\, Toby Hanks\, Mike Roylance\, Andrew Hitz\, and Michael Bunn. Dr. Ycaza is a Miraphone Tuba Artist. \n\nThe UNCG Wind Ensemble is a highly select concert band of fifty performers majoring in music at the UNCG School of Music. Performers in the current Wind Ensemble are drawn from sixteen states\, Slovenia\, and Hong Kong. The ensemble has enjoyed a distinguished record of performance throughout its history. In January 1992\, the UNCG Wind Ensemble performed “A Tribute to John Philip Sousa” to a capacity crowd of 2\,700 at the Concert Hall of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington\, D.C. Twice\, the Wind Ensemble earned critical acclaim from The Washington Post following concerts in the nation’s capital. The Wind Ensemble has performed throughout the eastern United States in recent years including the first-ever performance\, in 1987\, by a North Carolina collegiate ensemble in Lincoln Center\, New York City. The Wind Ensemble performed that same year in West Virginia\, Virginia\, Pennsylvania\, and Washington\, D.C. The Wind Ensemble has recorded nineteen commercially-available albums which have received widespread praise. \nIn 1985\, the Wind Ensemble performed a series of concerts with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer-conductor Karel Husa. In 1988\, the UNCG Wind Ensemble performed in New Orleans\, Louisiana by invitation of the College Band Directors National Association for the Southern Division convention. On a number of occasions\, the Wind Ensemble has commissioned and premiered works from leading band composers. In November of 1990\, the Wind Ensemble performed for the Southern Division of MENC convention. In February 1994\, the UNCG Wind Ensemble performed for a convention of the CBDNA and NBA in Williamsburg\, Virginia. In March 1999\, the Wind Ensemble performed for the national convention of the American Bandmasters Association in Melbourne\, Florida. In February 2000\, the Wind Ensemble performed for the CBDNA Southern Division Convention hosted at UNCG. In 2006\, the Wind Ensemble performed in The Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda\, Maryland\, shared a concert with the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in Arlington\, Virginia\, and collaborated with Karel Husa\, David Dzubay\, and Carter Pann in the performaces of their music\, including two commissions. In 2009\, the Wind Ensemble performed at the CBDNA National Convention at the University of Texas at Austin and performed additional concerts in Georgia\, Alabama\, Louisiana\, and Texas as part of a week-long tour. The Wind Ensemble performed at the 2011 National Convention of the American Bandmasters Association and the 2013 National Conference of the College Band Directors National Association hosted in Greensboro. In January 2022\, Laurent Estoppey joined the quartet on alto saxophone. The RCSQ takes its name from the area’s luscious red soil. The Quartet presents a varied repertoire from classical to jazz to new music to tango\, featuring music by composers such as Chen Yi\, Ben Johnston\, James Paul Sain\, György Ligeti\, Guillermo Lago\, Francis Poulenc\, Alejandro Rutty\, Steve Reich\, Mark Engebretson\, David Maslanka\, Martin Bresnick\, Burton Beerman\, and Gavin Bryars. \n\n\nLindsay Kesselman is a two time GRAMMY-nominated soprano known for her warm\, collaborative spirit and investment in personal\, intimate communication with audiences. She regularly collaborates with orchestras\, wind symphonies\, chamber ensembles\, opera/theater companies\, and new music ensembles across the United States\, often premiering\, touring and recording new works written for her by living composers. She is a passionate advocate for contemporary music\, and has commissioned/premiered over 100 works to date. \nRecent and upcoming highlights include the premiere of the wind transcription of Caroline Shaw’s Is a Rose\, Energy in All Directions by Kenneth Frazelle with Sandbox Percussion at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center\, the role of Anna in Kurt Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins with the Charlotte Symphony\, the role of Ada Lovelace in a new opera\, Galaxies in Her Eyes by Mark Lanz Weiser and Amy Punt\, Astronautica: Voices of Women in Space with Voices of Ascension\, ongoing performances of two works written for Kesselman by John Mackey with orchestras and wind symphonies across the country\, the John Corigliano 80th birthday celebration at National Sawdust (2018)\, Quixote (Amy Beth Kirsten and Mark DeChiazza) with Peak Performances at Montclair State University (2017)\, a leading role in Louis Andriessen’s opera Theatre of the World with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Dutch National Opera and an international tour of Einstein on the Beach with the Philip Glass Ensemble (2012-2015). \n\n\nShe is featured on several recent recordings: David Biedenbender’s all we are given we cannot hold (2023\, Blue Griffin)\, Chris Cerrone’s opera In a Grove (2023\, In a Circle Records)\, Caroline Shaw’s Is a Rose (2023\, Blue Griffin)\, Chris Cerrone’s The Arching Path (2021\, In a Circle Records)\, Russell Hartenberger’s Requiem for Percussion and Voices (2019\, Nexus Records)\, Chris Cerrone’s The Pieces That Fall to Earth with Wild Up (2019\, New Amsterdam Records)\, Mathew Rosenblum’s Lament/Witches’ Sabbath with the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble (2018\, New Focus Recordings)\, Louis Andriessen’s Theatre of the World with the Los Angeles Philharmonic (2017\, Nonesuch)\, and Jon Magnussen’s Twinge with HAVEN (2016\, Blue Griffin). \n\n\nKesselman has been the resident soprano of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble for 12 seasons\, and Haven\, Kesselman’s trio with Kimberly Cole Luevano\, clarinet and Midori Koga\, piano (www.haventrio.com) actively commissions and tours throughout North America. Haven is the recipient of a 2021 Barlow Endowment for Music Composition award with composer David Biedenbender and a 2021 Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Grant with composer Ivette Herryman Rodriguez. \n\n\nShe is a dedicated teacher\, currently serving as Visiting Assistant Professor of Voice at UNC Greensboro. A frequent guest clinician at colleges and universities across the United States\, Kesselman specializes in voice teaching\, leadership\, entrepreneurship\, musicianship\, young composer mentoring\, chamber music\, audience development\, programming\, interdisciplinary collaboration\, harnessing vulnerability in performance\, and community engagement.  This season she is an adjudicator for student composer competitions through North Star Music\, LLC and Connecticut Summerfest\, and she co-teaches the Heretic’s Guide to Score Study and Interpretation with Kevin Noe. \nKesselman holds degrees in voice performance and music education from Rice University and Michigan State University. She is represented by Trudy Chan at Black Tea Music and lives in Charlotte\, NC with her fiancé Kevin and son Rowan. Haven is the recipient of a 2021 Barlow Endowment for Music Composition award with composer David Biedenbender and a 2021 Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Grant with composer Ivette Herryman Rodriguez. \n\n\nShe is a dedicated teacher\, currently serving as Visiting Assistant Professor of Voice at UNC Greensboro. A frequent guest clinician at colleges and universities across the United States\, Kesselman specializes in voice teaching\, leadership\, entrepreneurship\, musicianship\, young composer mentoring\, chamber music\, audience development\, programming\, interdisciplinary collaboration\, harnessing vulnerability in performance\, and community engagement.  This season she is an adjudicator for student composer competitions through North Star Music\, LLC and Connecticut Summerfest\, and she co-teaches the Heretic’s Guide to Score Study and Interpretation with Kevin Noe. \nKesselman holds degrees in voice performance and music education from Rice University and Michigan State University. Prior to her appointment at UNCG\, she served as Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at the University of Northern Iowa. She has also taught on the music faculties of Virginia Commonwealth University\, Virginia State University\, Longwood University\, the University of Richmond\, the UNCG Summer Music Camp\, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. \nStephanie is a founding member of Calypsus Brass(opens in new window)\, a brass quintet dedicated to performing new works and providing recordings for composers. Calypsus is committed to promoting the works of composers from historically marginalized groups\, and serves as an Ensemble-in-Residence for Rising Tide Music Press. Stephanie is active as an orchestral musician\, and currently serves as Principal Tuba of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony. Keenly interested in the history of the piano\, he contributes frequently to conferences\, festivals\, and concert series. He is a past president of the Southeastern Historical Keyboard Society and a Trustee of the Westfield Center for Historical Keyboard Studies\, for whose International Fortepiano Competition he served as a juror. \nAs Covington Distinguished Professor of Music in the UNC Greensboro School of Music\, Willis teaches performance on instruments ranging from harpsichord to modern piano. He directed the biennial UNCG Focus on Piano Literature for over a decade and recently inaugurated a student Historical Performance Consort. For the Albany\, Bridge\, Claves\, Centaur\, and CRI labels he has recorded solo and ensemble music of three centuries on pianos linked historically to the chosen repertoire. His recording of Op. 106 for the first complete Beethoven sonata cycle on period instruments was hailed by The New York Times as “a ‘Hammerklavier’ of rare stature.” \nWillis received the D.M.A. in Historical Performance from Cornell University\, where he studied fortepiano with Malcolm Bilson\, the M.M. in Accompanying and Chamber Music from Temple University under George Sementovsky and Lambert Orkis\, and the B.M. in Piano from The Curtis Institute of Music\, where his mentor was Mieczyslaw Horszowski. \n\nThe vibrant UNCG Orchestra program has long been recognized for performance excellence\, adventurous programming\, and high artistic standards. Please consider a gift to the School of Music to support our mission and ensure the future of music at UNCG. \n   \n\n\n\n\n\n \nSteven Stusek\, saxophone\, is Associate Professor of Music at the University of North Carolina Greensboro\, where he is a member of the Eastwind Quintette d’Anches and the Red Clay Saxophone Quartet. Originally from Oshkosh\, Wisconsin\, he received his Bachelor’s degree in saxophone performance from Indiana University. Before beginning a Master’s degree in saxophone and chamber music at Arizona State University\, Steve spent a year in Paris studying at the Paris Conservatory (Conservatoire Nationale Superior de Musique de Paris) and the Conservatoire de le Région de Paris\, where he was awarded the Prix d’Or à l’Unanimité in Saxophone Performance. After living in the Netherlands for almost eight years he returned to Indiana University and was awarded a DMA in Saxophone in 2001. He has served on the faculties of Ball State University\, Middlebury College\, the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. He has been on the UNCG faculty since 1999. As a soloist\, Steve has appeared with the Eastern Music Festival and more recently with the University of South Carolina Wind Ensemble as part of the North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial conference. He has been the principal saxophonist for the Eastern Music Festival and the Greensboro Symphony for the past ten years. In 2000\, he won the prestigious Dutch Chamber Music Competition as part of the saxophone-accordion duo 2Track with accordion virtuoso Otine van Erp. Together they have performed throughout the Netherlands\, the US and on Dutch radio. Steve teamed up with pianist Inara Zandmane and saxophonist Susan Fancher to produce the critically acclaimed recording Louder than Words – music for two saxophones and piano. Steve’s teachers have included Eugene Rousseau\, Joseph Wytko\, David Baker\, Larry Teal\, Daniel Deffayet\, Jean-Yves Formeau\, and Leroy Wolter. Please consider a gift to the School of Music to support our mission and ensure the future of music at UNCG. \n   \n\n\n\n\n \nViolist Scott Rawls has appeared as soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States\, Canada\, Mexico\, Japan\, and Europe.  Recent chamber music endeavors include performances with Dmitry Sitkovetsky\, Bill Preucil\, Kurt Nikkanen\, Paul Rosenthal\, Jinjoo Cho\, Zuill Bailey\, and Sergey Antonov.  Last season\, he was a featured artist at chamber festivals ranging from Sitka Summer Chamber Music Festival and El Paso Pro Musica to Northwest Bach Festival.  His solo and chamber music recordings can be heard on the Centaur\, CRI\, Nonesuch\, Capstone\, and Philips labels. \nA strong proponent of new music\, Rawls has premiered dozens of new works by prominent composers.  Most notable\, he has toured extensively as a member of Steve Reich and Musicians.  As the violist in this ensemble\, he performed the numerous premieres of Daniel Variations\, The Cave and Three Tales by Steve Reich and Beryl Korot\, videographer. And under the auspices of presenting organizations such as the Wiener Festwochen\, Festival d’Automne a Paris\, Holland Festival\, Berlin Festival\, Spoleto Festival USA and the Lincoln Center Festival\, he has performed in major music centers around the world including London\, Vienna\, Rome\, Milan\, Tokyo\, Prague\, Amsterdam\, Brussels\, Los Angeles\, Chicago and New York. \nUnder the baton of maestro Dmitry Sitkovetsky\, he plays principal viola in the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra.  And during the summers\, Rawls plays principal viola in the festival orchestra at Brevard Music Center where he also coordinates the viola program. \nDr. Rawls currently serves as Professor of Viola and Chamber Music at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He holds a BM degree from Indiana University and a MM and DMA from State University of New York at Stony Brook. His major mentors include Abraham Skernick\, Georges Janzer\, John Graham and Julius Levine. \n\nThe UNCG Wind Ensemble is a highly select concert band of fifty performers majoring in music at the UNCG School of Music. Performers in the current Wind Ensemble are drawn from sixteen states\, Slovenia\, and Hong Kong. The ensemble has enjoyed a distinguished record of performance throughout its history. In January 1992\, the UNCG Wind Ensemble performed “A Tribute to John Philip Sousa” to a capacity crowd of 2\,700 at the Concert Hall of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington\, D.C. Twice\, the Wind Ensemble earned critical acclaim from The Washington Post following concerts in the nation’s capital. The Wind Ensemble has performed throughout the eastern United States in recent years including the first-ever performance\, in 1987\, by a North Carolina collegiate ensemble in Lincoln Center\, New York City. The Wind Ensemble performed that same year in West Virginia\, Virginia\, Pennsylvania\, and Washington\, D.C. The Wind Ensemble has recorded nineteen commercially-available albums which have received widespread praise. \nIn 1985\, the Wind Ensemble performed a series of concerts with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer-conductor Karel Husa. In 1988\, the UNCG Wind Ensemble performed in New Orleans\, Louisiana by invitation of the College Band Directors National Association for the Southern Division convention. On a number of occasions\, the Wind Ensemble has commissioned and premiered works from leading band composers. In November of 1990\, the Wind Ensemble performed for the Southern Division of MENC convention. In February 1994\, the UNCG Wind Ensemble performed for a convention of the CBDNA and NBA in Williamsburg\, Virginia. In March 1999\, the Wind Ensemble performed for the national convention of the American Bandmasters Association in Melbourne\, Florida. In February 2000\, the Wind Ensemble performed for the CBDNA Southern Division Convention hosted at UNCG. In 2006\, the Wind Ensemble performed in The Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda\, Maryland\, shared a concert with the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in Arlington\, Virginia\, and collaborated with Karel Husa\, David Dzubay\, and Carter Pann in the performaces of their music\, including two commissions. In 2009\, the Wind Ensemble performed at the CBDNA National Convention at the University of Texas at Austin and performed additional concerts in Georgia\, Alabama\, Louisiana\, and Texas as part of a week-long tour. Prior to this position\, Smith led the tuba and euphonium studio at Valdosta State University\, where he taught applied lessons\, studio class\, brass methods\, and music appreciation. Smith has given masterclasses at several universities\, including Kennesaw State University\, Florida A&M University\, Mississippi State University\, University of Tennessee\, University of North Carolina at Charlotte\, and Reinhardt University. Smith’s students have performed at the Army Band Tuba and Euphonium Conference\, as well as the South East Regional Tuba and Euphonium conference. Students from Smith’s studio include winners and finalists of multiple competitions\, including the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference solo artist competition\, the Leonard Falcone solo artist competition\, and the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra’s Concerto Competition. \nSmith is a versatile musician who has performed extensively as an orchestral\, chamber\, and solo artist. In 2019\, he joined the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In the role of Assistant Professor of Trumpet\, he heads the vibrant UNCG Trumpet Studio\, serves as Brass Area Chair\, and directs the UNCG Trumpet Ensemble. \nAs a former member of the esteemed Dallas Brass\, Klein toured the United States from 2017 to 2022\, presenting concerts that captivated audiences with virtuosic playing and engaging showmanship. With Dallas Brass\, Klein presented at top universities and conservatories\, performed as soloists with respected large ensembles\, and presented at several music educator conferences. \nCurrently\, Klein performs with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra as Principal Trumpet. He is also the Principal Solo Cornet of the North Carolina Brass Band and a member of the newly formed Brass Impact ensemble. Guest appearances have come with Presidio Brass and the Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass. As an orchestral musician\, Klein has performed with the Charlotte Symphony\, Winston-Salem Symphony\, Phoenix Symphony\, Tucson Symphony Orchestra\, New World Symphony\, Singapore Symphony Orchestra\, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra\, and Minnesota Orchestra. While a student\, Klein spent summers at the Aspen Music Festival and the National Repertory Orchestra. \nAn active soloist\, Klein has performed several solo recitals at venues throughout the country. He has also been a featured soloist with bands at UNC Greensboro\, the Minnesota Symphonic Winds\, St. Olaf Band\, St. Olaf Norseman Band\, and the Gustavus Wind Orchestra. A proud promoter of new music for trumpet\, Klein has commissioned several new works for trumpet including a concerto for trumpet and wind ensemble by composer Nathan Hudson. Klein has been invited on several occasions to perform new works at the International Trumpet Guild Conference. \nDr. Klein is in demand as an educator\, having presented masterclasses for students of all ages across the US and Southeast Asia. Prior to teaching at UNCG\, Klein taught at St. Olaf College and Gustavus Adolphus College\, both in Minnesota. With an eye to the future of trumpet pedagogy\, he has served as an artist\, adjudicator\, and consultant for the Next Generation Trumpet Competition. He has hosted the National Trumpet Competition at UNCG and has served as an adjudicator for the competition. Klein’s latest educational project is a new book of trumpet fundamentals called “Collaborative Practice Routines\,” which seeks to promote group practice and ignite a sense of community amongst trumpet students. \nKlein studied at Arizona State University\, earning the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees\, along with a Certificate in Music Theory Pedagogy. Prior to studying at ASU\, he attended the prestigious Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore\, studying trumpet and conducting. His Bachelor of Music degree comes from St. Olaf College in Minnesota. Klein’s primary teachers have been Steven Hagen\, Dr. Martin Hodel\, Benny Nguyen\, and David Hickman. Outside of music\, Klein is a passionate tennis player and enjoys discovering links between music and tennis. He has been an Artist/Teacher for the Eastern Music Festival since 2013 and served on the faculty of the Hot Springs Music Festival (Arkansas) from 2008–2012. He has formerly held positions with the Spokane Symphony\, the Boise Philharmonic\, Washington State University\, Eastern Washington University\, and Whitman College. Taylor’s clarinet playing can be heard on recordings on the Navona\, Centaur\, Naxos American Classics and Gothic recording labels\, and the most recent releases are two Centaur records projects with New Music Raleigh. The most recent is the world premiere recording of Brett William Dietz’s opera introspective Headcase\, and another recent release is the debut recording of composer DJ Sparr\, 21207. He can also be found on youtube; his video promoting his March 2011 basset clarinet performances of the Mozart concerto with the Winston-Salem symphony now has nearly 100\,000 views. In 2014\, Taylor was among the first performers of Donald Crockett’s Dance Concerto(please see media page for recordings). He has appeared at the International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest®\, with a notable performance of John Adams’s clarinet concerto Gnarly Buttons in 2010 and in 2011\, the world premiere of UNCG composer Alejandro Rutty’s work for Guitars\, for two clarinets and Ableton Live-based electronics. In recent years\, Taylor has been expanding his pedagogical skills through extensive study of human movement and the Alexander Technique\, and expects to complete his ATI certification as a teacher of the Alexander Technique some time during the 2016–17 academic year. Taylor holds degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music\, the Florida State University and Washington State University. His former teachers include Steve Cohen\, Ron Aufmann\, Richard Hawkins\, Frank Kowalsky\, Jim Schoepflin\, and Joseph Brooks. \n \nClarinetist\, composer\, educator\, and new music collaborator Luke Ellard strives for art that continually reaches out\, valuing a relational spirit\, informed engagement\, and unapologetic authenticity. \nFor Luke\, collaboration is what gives music life. As clarinetist\, they have performed with members of Bang On a Can All Stars\, Eighth Blackbird\, International Contemporary Ensemble\, Fifth House Ensemble\, Arkansas Symphony\, and Lone Star Wind Orchestra. Their current performance projects center around their self-produced solo cross-genre/electronic band LE\, and commissioning new exciting works for the clarinet. \nTheir collaborative spirit is reflected in their life as a composer as well\, drawing inspiration from a personal and communicative place. Their music has been performed by groups such as New Trombone Collective (Blue Interjections\, finalist in the 2013 Slide Factory International Composition Contest)\, the North Texas Wind Symphony (The Seer\, concerto for Bassoon and Wind Ensemble)\, HOCKET (someone else’s days\, #What2020SoundsLike)\, the University of Texas Symphony Band (Shifting Tides)\, Michigan State University Concert Band\, Barkada Quartet (threads of execution)\, the Mother Falcon String Quartet (all I’m feeling right now\, winner of Golden Hornet Composer Lab’s String Quartet Smackdown III)\, and in collaboration with cellist Nick Photinos (haven’t yet\, Bang on a Can Summer Festival). \nDr. Ellard joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the Fall of 2023 as Visiting Assistant Professor of Clarinet\, having previously served on faculty at the University of Oklahoma and Midwestern State University while teaching privately and performing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Luke earned their Doctor of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance with related studies in Contemporary Music and Music Entrepreneurship at the University of North Texas\, studying under Kimberly Cole Luevano. Performers in the current Wind Ensemble are drawn from sixteen states\, Slovenia\, and Hong Kong. The ensemble has enjoyed a distinguished record of performance throughout its history. In January 1992\, the UNCG Wind Ensemble performed “A Tribute to John Philip Sousa” to a capacity crowd of 2\,700 at the Concert Hall of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington\, D.C. Twice\, the Wind Ensemble earned critical acclaim from The Washington Post following concerts in the nation’s capital. The Wind Ensemble has performed throughout the eastern United States in recent years including the first-ever performance\, in 1987\, by a North Carolina collegiate ensemble in Lincoln Center\, New York City. The Wind Ensemble performed that same year in West Virginia\, Virginia\, Pennsylvania\, and Washington\, D.C. The Wind Ensemble has recorded nineteen commercially-available albums which have received widespread praise. \nIn 1985\, the Wind Ensemble performed a series of concerts with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer-conductor Karel Husa. In 1988\, the UNCG Wind Ensemble performed in New Orleans\, Louisiana by invitation of the College Band Directors National Association for the Southern Division convention. On a number of occasions\, the Wind Ensemble has commissioned and premiered works from leading band composers. In November of 1990\, the Wind Ensemble performed for the Southern Division of MENC convention. In February 1994\, the UNCG Wind Ensemble performed for a convention of the CBDNA and NBA in Williamsburg\, Virginia. In March 1999\, the Wind Ensemble performed for the national convention of the American Bandmasters Association in Melbourne\, Florida. In February 2000\, the Wind Ensemble performed for the CBDNA Southern Division Convention hosted at UNCG. In 2006\, the Wind Ensemble performed in The Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda\, Maryland\, shared a concert with the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in Arlington\, Virginia\, and collaborated with Karel Husa\, David Dzubay\, and Carter Pann in the performaces of their music\, including two commissions. In 2009\, the Wind Ensemble performed at the CBDNA National Convention at the University of Texas at Austin and performed additional concerts in Georgia\, Alabama\, Louisiana\, and Texas as part of a week-long tour. The Wind Ensemble performed at the 2011 National Convention of the American Bandmasters Association and the 2013 National Conference of the College Band Directors National Association hosted in Greensboro.
