We believe that the UNCG Choirs are a serious and distinctive medium of musical expression\, of vital service and importance to its members and to UNCG. DESCRIPTION:Experience straight-ahead jazz with The Steve Haines Trio\, featuring the powerhouse rhythm section of internationally renowned pianist Joey Calderazzo\, bassist Steve Haines and drummer Kobie Watkins. Having locked into a swinging musical language for over 15 years\, they provide a propulsive foundation that serves both the curiosity and soulfulness of the jazz tradition. The trio is joined by a heavyweight saxophonist and luminary Gregory Tardy. He brings a fresh\, creative spark to this group\, providing spontaneous melodies for the rhythm section. This performance promises an evening of world-class musicianship\, characterized by interplay\, deep grooves\, and the kind of improvisation that only happens when seasoned masters share the stage. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Miles Davis Jazz Studies Program at UNCG is a unique and innovative undergraduate jazz program designed to emulate the traditional process of learning jazz\, through a combination of mentorship\, real-world playing experiences\, and a communal approach to learning.
