SUMMARY:Stoop Stories | Art exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Stoop Stories\n\n\n\nSculpture\, Prints\, and Tales from the Brackish Waters Between Public and Private\, the Sentimental and Forgotten \n\n\n\nExhibition by Patrick Healy & Topher Alexander \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSeptember 15 – 26\, 2026\n\n\n\nReception: Friday\, Sept 25th | 6-8P\n\n\n\nMore About Stoop Stories \n\n\n\nThe brownstone steps\, the wraparound porch\, the bench outside your local deli – these spaces exist on the shoreline separating the sidewalk and the sentimental. The quaint theaters illuminated by streetlamp where first kisses are given and innumerable cups of coffee are consumed. Stoop Stories presents a collection of sculpture\, prints\, and tall tales examining that brackish water between public and private space. An exhibit reflecting on Topher and Patrick’s experiences working and traveling together from creaky southern porches to the marble steps of Venetian cathedrals. \n\n\n\nMore About Patrick and Topher \n\n\n\nPatrick Healy  \n\n\n\nAs a child of working class parents growing up in the suburbs of New York\, I experienced the locality of stoop-side congregation and bodega counter community\, coupled with the far reaching global network of the City and cable television. This micro/macro upbringing compelled me to parse and render these idiosyncratic/ubiquitous situations through my artistic endeavors. Currently working with fabricated steel and other industrial materials\, my sculpture aims to appropriate and subvert the banality of the everyday in order to bring a heightened awareness to its potential for absurdity\, whimsy\, and contemplation. I received my BFA at SUNY Alfred in 2009\, and remained in Upstate New York for nearly a decade\, allowing country living to permeate my city exterior. In 2018\, I made the pilgrimage down to North Carolina to pursue my MFA at UNC Greensboro.  While I can’t shake my accent\, and I’m still hunting for a decent bagel\, I am happy to call the southern stoop\, the porch\, my home. \n\n\n\nLearn more patrickhealystudio.com | IG: @phealyinc \n\n\n\nTopher Alexander \n\n\n\nTopher is a printmaker based in North Carolina. He received his MFA from UNC-Greensboro and currently teaches at the University of North Carolina Greensboro and Cape Fear Community College. His personal artwork ranges the gambit of traditional printmaking\, alternative print methods and experimental paper processes. He has helped coordinate numerous large format steam roller woodcut events across North Carolina as well as smaller workshops around the region as well. His recent work incorporates recycled materials and alternative processes to create work with an environmentally friendly footprint.  \n\n\n\nLearn more IG: @taimpressions
