SUMMARY:The End of the World Party Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The End of the World Party\n\n\n\nSolo Exhibition by Juno Rose  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOctober 27 – 31\, 2026\n\n\n\nReception: Friday\, Oct 30th | 6-8P\n\n\n\nMore About The End of the World Party \n\n\n\nThe End of the World Party uses the imagery of biblical and nuclear apocalypse to explore the intersection of racial and queer identity\, primarily centering black\, gender-nonconforming bodies. Using film and illustration in tandem\, this dying world of burning pylons\, broken power lines\, and crying angels is brought to life\, using Juno Rose\, and her ever-evolving character\, Mandinga\, as its main subjects. Alongside the main concept\, this exhibition invites you to sit and watch the other filmic works of Juno Rose\, these films exploring race\, intimacy\, and sexuality through a variety of genres. In all\, these four rooms use the often-overlooked perspectives of black\, queer\, and transgender individuals to ask the viewer to consider the beliefs they have about themselves and those who look nothing like them as they navigate a volatile America and an increasingly inhospitable land. \n\n\n\nMore About Juno Rose \n\n\n\nJuno Rose is an Afro-Caribbean gender-nonconforming filmmaker\, animator\, and illustrator whose work explores the intersection of racial\, sexual\, and queer identity using surrealist imagery and absurdist perspectives. Rose graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in May 2024\, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation. Since then\, she has worked on multiple award-winning\, festival-selected films\, showcasing her work at a variety of east-coast venues such as the Plaza Theatre in Atlanta\, The Carolina Theatre in Greensboro\, The North Carolina Museum of Art\, and many more with the help of the film collective she co-founded\, Classroom 105. \n\n\n\nCurrently\, she continues her analysis of black and queer life with her newest project: End of the World\, the first installation of which premieres at the Greensboro Project Space. \n\n\n\nLearn more:  www.junopunkia.com   | IG: @junopunkia

SUMMARY:The Cadence of Form
DESCRIPTION:The Cadence of Form: Pat Wasserboehr Explores the Interplay of Form\, Space\, and Movement \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPublic Opening Reception\n\n\n\nThursday\, November 5 from 4–6 PM\n\n\n\n Artist Talk at 4:30 PM\n\n\n\n\nThe Cadence of Form: Pat Wasserboehr Explores the Interplay of Form\, Space\, and Movement \n\n\n\nAn exhibition celebrating a distinguished sculptural practice shaped by modernist traditions\, architectural principles\, and the human body.  \n\n\n\n In The Cadence of Form\, sculptor Pat Wasserboehr brings together modernist influences\, architectural sensibilities\, and references to the human body in a sustained exploration of form\, space\, and movement. Grounded in her enduring commitment to formalism\, Wasserboehr’s work examines the relationships between internal and external forms\, the spaces they define\, and the rhythms that emerge through their arrangement. Her sculptures invite viewers to consider the essential elements of three-dimensional composition\, where balance\, tension\, structure\, and movement become the primary language of expression.  \n\n\n\nWorking in stone\, plaster\, and wood\, Wasserboehr investigates the physical properties of her materials through a precise and deliberate process of modeling and construction. Her compositions explore the interplay of mass and void\, strength and suspension\, and stability and movement. Rather than relying on narrative\, she emphasizes the visual and spatial relationships that give each work its presence\, revealing how subtle shifts in form and structure can transform the experience of an object and its surrounding space.  \n\n\n\nWasserboehr’s artistic practice is informed by a distinguished academic career spanning more than four decades at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG)\, where she taught in the School of Art from 1982 to 2024. As Head of the School from 1998 to 2010\, she helped shape its development and influenced generations of artists and art educators. Her broader teaching experience includes Boston University’s School of Visual Art and the University of Massachusetts Summer Studies Abroad Program in La Napoule\, France. Throughout her career\, she has presented sculpture demonstrations and lectures at academic institutions\, conferences\, and artist residencies in the Southeast and abroad.  \n\n\n\nInternational residencies have played an important role in her professional development\, including the University of Georgia’s Summer Program in Cortona\, Italy; Salem2Salem\, organized by Salem Art Works in Salem\, New York\, and Salem\, Baden-Württemberg\, Germany; and the Dietz Atelier Residency in Eberdingen\, Germany. Since 2014\, Wasserboehr has also been engaged in the evolving field of digital stone milling and carving through residencies with the Digital Stone Project\, where she serves as a board member. This work reflects an ongoing interest in the relationship between traditional sculptural processes and emerging technologies\, expanding the possibilities of working with stone.  \n\n\n\nHer sculpture has been exhibited regionally\, nationally\, and internationally. Selected venues include the Muscarelle Museum of Art in Williamsburg\, Virginia; the Fine Arts Museum of the South in Mobile\, Alabama; the Limner Gallery in Hudson\, New York; City Gallery in Lexington\, Kentucky; and the Phoenix Gallery in Chelsea\, New York. International exhibitions have included presentations at the Cathedral of San Christoforo in Barga\, Italy; Galleria Giovanni Bonelli in Pietrasanta\, Italy; the Historischen Bibliothek von Schloss Salem in Salem\, Germany; Enterprise Square Galleries in Alberta\, Canada; and the Shaanxi Provincial Museum of Fine Arts in Xi’an\, China. Her work has also been featured in Art of the State: Celebrating the Visual Art of North Carolina\, published by UNC Press\, and she is included in Virginia Watson Jones’s Contemporary American Women Sculptors.  \n\n\n\nWith The Cadence of Form\, Wasserboehr’s sculptures offer an opportunity to experience the enduring relevance of formalist sculpture through a practice that bridges modernist thought\, architectural structure\, material investigation\, and the expressive potential of the human form. Her work demonstrates a sustained commitment to understanding how sculptural elements interact\, how space becomes an active component of composition\, and how material itself informs the visual experience.  \n\n\n\nWe are honored to present Pat Wasserboehr’s work here in North Carolina\, a state where her artistic practice and educational leadership have contributed to the development of its creative community. The Cadence of Form celebrates not only her substantial artistic legacy but also her continuing exploration of the possibilities of contemporary sculpture.  \n\n\n\nExhibition Information\n\n\n\nThe Cadence of Form Pat Wasserboehr Gatewood Gallery\, UNCG October 29 – December 4\, 2026\, hours 9-4 pm\, M-F Greensboro\, North Carolina Contact: Gallery Director\, Professor Mariam Aziza Stephan\, mastepha@uncg.edu
