SUMMARY:The End of the World Party Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The End of the World Party\n\n\n\nSolo Exhibition by Juno Rose  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOctober 27 – 31\, 2026\n\n\n\nReception: Friday\, Oct 30th | 6-8P\n\n\n\nMore About The End of the World Party \n\n\n\nThe End of the World Party uses the imagery of biblical and nuclear apocalypse to explore the intersection of racial and queer identity\, primarily centering black\, gender-nonconforming bodies. Using film and illustration in tandem\, this dying world of burning pylons\, broken power lines\, and crying angels is brought to life\, using Juno Rose\, and her ever-evolving character\, Mandinga\, as its main subjects. Alongside the main concept\, this exhibition invites you to sit and watch the other filmic works of Juno Rose\, these films exploring race\, intimacy\, and sexuality through a variety of genres. In all\, these four rooms use the often-overlooked perspectives of black\, queer\, and transgender individuals to ask the viewer to consider the beliefs they have about themselves and those who look nothing like them as they navigate a volatile America and an increasingly inhospitable land. \n\n\n\nMore About Juno Rose \n\n\n\nJuno Rose is an Afro-Caribbean gender-nonconforming filmmaker\, animator\, and illustrator whose work explores the intersection of racial\, sexual\, and queer identity using surrealist imagery and absurdist perspectives. Rose graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in May 2024\, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation. Since then\, she has worked on multiple award-winning\, festival-selected films\, showcasing her work at a variety of east-coast venues such as the Plaza Theatre in Atlanta\, The Carolina Theatre in Greensboro\, The North Carolina Museum of Art\, and many more with the help of the film collective she co-founded\, Classroom 105. \n\n\n\nCurrently\, she continues her analysis of black and queer life with her newest project: End of the World\, the first installation of which premieres at the Greensboro Project Space. \n\n\n\nLearn more:  www.junopunkia.com   | IG: @junopunkia

SUMMARY:kaleidoscope minds art exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Kaleidoscope Minds\n\n\n\nFeaturing UNCG Student Artists\n\n\n\nCurated by GPS Interns: Lydia Ronsick & Ray Owensby \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExhibition: November 10 – 14\, 2026\n\n\n\nReception: Friday\, Nov 13\, 6-8p\n\n\n\nMore About Kaleidoscope Minds  \n\n\n\nKaleidoscope Minds is an exhibition that examines how memories bring together things that have become separated through time or space. We seek art that explores artists’ introspective relationship with recollecting\, or binding together things\, memories\, people\, and places that hold weight in the self. We are interested to see what artistic voice creates when reflecting on pieces of the self. \n\n\n\nMore About The GPS Student Intern Curators  \n\n\n\nLydia Ronsick \n\n\n\nAs a painter\, I see a canvas as both a window to the external world\, and a mirror to the internal world. As one of the curators of this exhibition\, I am interested to see how different artists interact with the theme of reflecting and introspecting\, and what unique perspectives and visual languages they can present as a result of confronting themselves.  \n\n\n\nRay Owensby \n\n\n\nAs an art historian\, I see art as a language\, one that we use to communicate across time and geography as a species. Understanding this language is something we all have in common\, but what artists have is the ability to say something new with it. My intent in curating this exhibition is to bring together many individual artists’ relationship with their own pasts\, their memories\, and their art. I want to see what becomes of an internal artistic conversation with the self\, and what happens when those individual stories are bound together.

SUMMARY:2026 MFA Thesis exhibition: Maggie murphy
DESCRIPTION:DREAM SCREEN\n\n\n\nMFA Thesis Exhibition\n\n\n\nMaggie Murphy\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNovember 17 -21\, 2026\n\n\n\nReception: Friday\, November 20th\, 7-9p\n\n\n\nDream Screen is a schoolyard pretend wedding between my adult and child selves. We exchange plastic Pretty Pretty Princess rings and\, as vows\, chant to each other\, “I’m okay and you’re okay\, I’m okay and you’re okay\,” back and forth\, over and over. I can see this scene so vividly in my mind\, as if I dreamed about it last night. And if I try hard enough\, I can convince myself it is a concrete memory I actually have: my time-traveling grown-up self showing up on the playground and asking me to marry her\, as real as my memories of recitals and talent shows and birthday parties. This is because I experience my mind as a movie theater\, where my dreams\, memories\, and imagination are playing on repeat\, and for me\, these psychic experiences are totally mutable—all constantly mixing together and shifting between states of certainty and precariousness\, validity and delusion. As a child\, this sense of unreality lent itself to a deeply-held belief that I had secret powers\, that I was being chased by people in white masks\, that an angel lived on my ceiling and protected me from harm. And as an adult\, while I still believe that my thoughts can alter the world around me\, I now recognize it as maladaptive magical thinking that stems from obsessive-compulsive disorder. Or is it? Because\, actually\, maybe it’s all real; maybe my powers are still alive and active.  \n\n\n\nThe idea of the “dream screen” comes from psychoanalytic theory. It’s the screen on which we project our dreams when we go to sleep\, whether it’s a surface we actually see or the underlying matrix upon which our dreams appear. I chose this concept as the name for my exhibition because my work externalizes the moving images I see on that screen in my mind and brings them into three dimensions. Glitchy plastic televisions become portals for hand-drawn\, looping reveries. Archival home videos are subjected to additive and subtractive alterations\, exposing how easily I can edit and sanitize my memories over time\, while original footage attempts to manifest my dream logic as viewers traverse uncanny\, empty landscapes. Encrusted mound sculptures and suspended textile partitions translate childhood impulses of accumulation\, adornment\, hide-and-seek\, and fort-building into physical barriers against real and imagined threats to body and psyche. By taking apart and re-activating the toys and technologies of my youth\, I can work through my fraught relationships with both normal make-believe and unhealthy superstition. Likewise\, reworking my memories with crayons and stickers\, constructing a psychic storm shelter out of quilts\, and translating my own self-soothing form into armored mounds allows me to showcase what my powers can do. In the end\, entering this show is the same as stepping inside my personal daydreams and secret hideouts—and we’re all totally okay as long as we stay there. I’m okay and you’re okay. \n\n\n\nMaggie Murphy was born in Neptune\, NJ in 1985. \n\n\n\nLearn more | IG: @m_ggi_m_rphy
